​I have a friend who uses these for her climbing shoes, and after seeing how well they worked for her, I just had to get some. Straight out of the pack, they smell amazing - a really fresh, natural scent that is a huge relief for my sensory sensitivities. I put them into my La Sportiva Tarantula boulder climbing shoes immediately, they freshened them up perfectly with their natural ingredients and fit really snug inside. I actually used the carabiner provided to clip through the loops of my shoes too to keep them all together! Which is a really cool trick i discovered and is defo worth doing so they dont slip out - its probably what its for but i feel very smart for finding it out on my own! Lol! ​The texture is worth mentioning too. They have a bead-like material inside that feels really cool and satisfying to touch, and the outside cotton skin is surprisingly soft. As someone who is neurodivergent and deals with high anxiety, these small tactile details make the product feel like more than just a deodoriser; it’s actually quite calming to handle while I'm prepping my gear. ​My friend has had this exact brand for four months, and even with us climbing 3 times a week for 2-3 hours a session, her shoes still smell fresh so i know just how durable and effective they are. For just under £15, knowing they will last that long makes them amazing value for money. If you're a frequent climber who cares about sensory details and keeping gear fresh, these are a must-have.

when i bought it, i smelled them, and i was like, ehh, how will this make my footwear smell nice. cuz they smelled so weirdly,. funny enough next day my shoes had no bad smell, so i was very happy with this product.

Great product for smelly climbing shoes!

Good. I had a few days off from work so I put the boot bananas in my work boots for 4 days straight, where they worked hard to very slowly neutralize an old, disgusting smell. I am a bit worried that the bananas have become discoloured after a single use, perhaps I got a bad batch? Overall recommended. UPDATE 2 WEEKS ON: Mold has grown on the bananas and they have become even more discoloured. I genuinely cannot imagine these lasting 2 months, much less the advertised 6 to 12 months. Not recommended at their current price point. If the price was halved, say £7, then they would be worth it. Not so at close to £17. UPDATE 3 WEEKS ON: I received a message from the seller explaining the item and its intended use and have realized I wasn't using the bananas as intended - If used in sweaty work boots, they're meant to be used in conjunction with their boot dryers, to avoid the bananas being oversaturated by sweat. Review moved to 5 stars due to attentiveness and professionalism of seller.

** Update **. Seller kindly sent replacement product, informing that there has been issues with a single batch of these. Happy to report the replacements worked perfectly and no signs of deterioration after a few uses - very happy. We’ve been struggling with the stench of our sons various boots for a number of seasons and have tried multiple ways to freshen them up with no real success. After seeing this on Amazon, thought we’d give them a go. Good news is - they really helped with the smell and although not completely gone, they’re definetly smelling a lot fresher and not causing the whole family to wretch whenever son opens his boot bag. The not so good news - after 2 hours in my sons boots, both bananas have now started to turn with brown dots appearing over them. Boots were slightly damp, but not overly wet when used so a bit disappointed as don’t see how these are now going to last the time claimed in the advertising. Overall, a great idea and seems as though they are effective at addressing the smell issue. However, if they need to replaced this often then it’s going to come very costly.

This is the second pair we’ve had they work wonders in my daughters football boots, they no longer smell of cat pee and the hallway has an aroma of lavender

Edit: After an average to poor review that I left, the founder of boot bananas got in touch and said they had some defective packaging in a small run of their product that caused the item to develop faults before they arrived. To rectify this he sent me out a new set of the boot bananas without being asked to. They arrived promptly and in good order. I've been using them for a week or two now and they are holding up well with no signs of the immediate discolouration that the first set had. So I think he was right and the original set were faulty; I'd recommend the product on its own as the smell is excellent but the amazing customer service put them over the top for me, would definitely recommend. Original Review: I’d like to preface this review by saying it’s possible my shoes are particularly potent, however after just one use in my golf shoes the bananas went mostly a light shade of brown ( a sign that they’re used up) so I left them in a warm dry area as the instructions say - this did little to help the problem. They developed a white powder like substance on them. I’ve continued to use them in my golf shoes and I do enjoy the scent of them but I’m unsure how effective they are after their premature browning

Not as good as I thought. It smells pretty weird and it tends to get the bad smell of the shoes and hold it as well, creating a nasty overall smell. It didn’t do much for my shoes…
