A great and silent compact projector for the bedroom.
Not gonna have anything mind blowing to say about this projector, or anything incredibly insightful about it's specs. It's my first projector, but honestly it's the first one I'd ever even have considered. I originally got this as I live in a an apartment and I don't really have space for much of a projection setup, and I didn't really want to get a large screen TV especially considering how little I would use it and how much space it would have to occupy. This little projector comes in handy whenever I want to share a movie or a game but it does require a dark room, at only 1000 lumens. Good thing I live above the arctic circle, where the winters are long and dark. I actually prefer using this projector on it's eco/power saving mode, which makes it even dimmer but almost completely silent. With Eco mode, I've just moved this unit into my bedroom and have it reflecting on to a grey painted wall. I would never have considered to mount a projector into my bedroom just because of the incredibly annoying noise projectors can make, but this is so quiet I can even fall asleep to it. The bluetooth connectivity makes choosing and changing audio sources fairly easy I am considering getting this thing wall/roof mounted. I just have not been able to find a good mounting bracket as the projector only has 3 screw holes at the bottom, which is probably some really common mounting system I am completely oblivious too. As silly as it would have been, I think a standard camera tripod mount would have been great for this projector. One annoyance with this projector though, is the way the TV channel guide works. Whenever you enter it, to choose what your watching, it cuts out the background audio. This is a bit silly as many times I am watching the last few minutes of the news, don't really need to see whats happening and want to start looking at whats next. If I actually cared about TV this would probably be a pretty big annoyance, but I do most of my news watching on my computer and this is mostly for enjoying movies. So the fact that it has a TV tuner is only a plus for me. Oh and lastly, my unit came with a swapable UK power plug, no EU plug like many have stated. Easy thing to replace, most people probably have one in their own flavor already. Also it seems there are 2 versions of this projector package out there, one that comes with something called a "Magic remote" and the other comes with a bog standard black LG TV remote. I got the latter, prefer it it more, but just FYI for anyone who likes those magic remotes. Don't know which ones will be more available in the future, but I've gotten mine close to the time of writing this review so more likely this standard black remote is what you will receive.

Amazing home cinema projector
Few things to clarify This is amazing projector if you are willing to use it as home cinema only. This is not good presentation projector so if you are looking for one just look for something else. Good points: - Absolutely No rainbow effect - like some people claim they can see (not sure how as it is impossible with this type of projector) - Amazing quality and very well calibrated, Black looks way better than on any other projector I ever had - Super easy to setup and even if you want to move it from room to another the adjustment will take no longer than 30 sec. I use it with chormecase and it does amazin job. - Bluetooth works like a treat - mine connects automatically to BOSE soundtouch without any problems - 3D works great with 3rd party brand / you need active DLP glasses - Light and small - 1080p video looks absolutely amazing - Bright enough for evening watching / it's actually as bright as my other well known brand projector with 2000 lumens mounted 4metres away from the wall. - Way cooler than DLP projectors it does not blow hot air even after 3 hours watching in a row. - Amazing for playing games - I have tried only racing games and I could not see any delay at all. Bad points: - If watching on lowest energy saving = brightest - the projector is very loud not loud enough to ruin the film but is noticeably whisling noise might be quite annoying for some people. As it is located in front it's less annoying than projector mounte above your head. - Sharpness across the whole screen / yes it is true that bottom of the screen is less sharp than mid and top part but for watching films there is no way to tell the difference. For presentations / business meeting it might be bit unpleasant but again this is not presentation projector. I watch on 110" and the image is still crisp as it could be and I do not use screen just plain wall. So if you are looking for projector that is small, that you can put on your sideboard and watch films / tv or play games or move it from room to another this is the best projector you can buy. It''s not a business projector nor it will replace the TV unless you watch only in evenings. There is no way you can watch films in day time with blinds up but to be honest most of them are impossible to watch unless you have a venue projector that would work well. I'm very picky about technology and being IT guru for last 15 years I can honestly say this is very versatile product with ultra short throw which makes watching films very good experience. I hope it will last a long time as I don't see myself replacing it anytime soon. 4* only because it's louder that I would expect otherwise it would be 5

Impulse Buy turns out to be a Great Buy
I've had this a couple of days now after an "Impulse Buy" its the 1st Projector I have ever had so don't really have a bench mark to compare it with, but for an Impulse Buy it's just Awesome and I couldn't be happier. Takes no space at all, I'm getting a Huge 98" screen from just 33cm from the wall in my little Man Cave, the wall is just painted white no screen and the picture is bright and vivid, good colour decent blacks, with the lights off of course. The sound is a bit crappy that's to be accepted, I don't think any projector gives decent sound through its own speakers, a trip to Richer Sounds may be on the cards very soon for a AV Receiver & Speakers this should take it to another level and I can have my own Mini Cinema. Apparently it can connect to Freeview if you plug a TV Arial in and if you use a Fire Stick its basically a smart TV, I haven't bothered, just connected to a PS4 with one HDMI 2.0 Cable & a HDMI Switch so I can choose TV or Projector with the press of a button this works perfectly and with the Amazon Prime, Netflix & Sky Go apps on the PS4 I have all the content I could need, Playing the PS4 games is great too with a massive screen and I can use the PS4 DVD/Blu-Ray player to boot. I would Defiantly Recommend the LG PF1000U Projector if you want a big screen and space is an issue I don't think you will be disappointed.

Superb!
I am really pleased with this projector. It was great value for money in the sale. It really delivers an excellent picture and benefits from led technology to give 30000 hours lamp life! Also, it comes with a 3 year warranty. I have had no issues with focus. The picture, even at 100" is focused at the top and bottom of the screen (attached photo is a 100" image projected on to a magnolia wall, at middle eco mode, and the image is great!). The only thing to be aware of is the brightness. I find in a dark room, a 100" picture is great, even at the middle eco mode (quieter fan). In a room with a little light, a 80" picture still looks good. It probably would not be as good in a bright room so I would advise looking at alternatives if you are purchasing for a bright room. However, for my use, in a darkish environment, it is the best £699 I have ever spent. Fan noise is not too bad, considering that the projector is in front of where you sit. The eco mode is good as the noise is reduced but picture still good in a dark environment. 3D mode from Blu-ray player works really well. I had to purchase some glasses but they were quite cheap. the effect is great. For some reason, I can't get my Sky 3D to work but will try again soon. Overall, an excellent projector for a moderately light or dark environment.

I really wanted to Like this projector
I really wanted to Like this projector, but now back to seller. Might consider re-ordering, just to rule out the possibility of a unlucky bad unit first time. Esp. Regarding “Non-Rectangular Image” below. Here is my opinion: There are some very good reasons to buy this little gem, but be aware of things that might be a concern for you. - LED means reliable long life over conventional bulbs, no worries of bulb replacement cost. - Ultra-short throw, meaning possibilities for a “clean” setup, like a TV. With no cables handing over or around. - No Color wheel, reduced/eliminated “Rainbow effect” found in DLP’s. - Decent Overall Picture quality Color Saturation, Contrast ( Excluding low lumens). Cons: - Difficult set-up for getting an accurate rectangular image ( The corners are not sharp and straight they are somewhat curved). - Considering as a TV replacement ? watch out for the low lumens, 1000 Lumens Brightness OK for Dark room condition, but not sufficient enough for typical TV like Environment. - 3D performance: haven’t tried too much of right content, but its most likely not jaw dropping performance due to insufficient Lumens ( even in dark rooms ). - No SmartTV inbuilt as in the US model, though LG has exactly the same MPN for both the variants. - A bit noisy perhaps due poor a quality Fan, but EcoMode is nice and quiet ( Brightness even more compromised). - Limited Audio Out Connections, No Digital Coax Audio out. If your Sound receiver doesn’t support Optical or Bluetooth than you have to fall back on analog AUX Port. I am not sure If Audio Output Over HDMI was available. - White Image uniformity not great. - Grey levels closer to Black, lack details. Could also be due to low lumens. Low Lumens, Non-Rectangular/Straight lines+Sharp corners were the key reasons why I returned my device. If LG upgraded it to approx. 2000 Lumens, this one is a definite buy projector even with the other small shortcomings

Great projector
Bought this as a Black Friday offer, as was looking for a secondary option for presentations and using while traveling for work to watch movies. For me the picture and sound quality are great, and with the connections can connect to a pc / amp / Bluetooth etc. It's my first projector so maybe not as compact as I hoped but works we for short business trips. Positives Great picture and sound Good for presentations Screen mirroring Only needs to be a foot away from wall to get a decent sized picture (see photos) Portable Bluetooth HDMI and optical connections Old legacy connections Built in WiFi Negatives Little bit big (my perception) Cannot change bulb (says it should last 10 + years depending on usage) Not latest HD standards (4k etc) Powered only by mains. Overall impressed and if and when my 10 year old TV stops working would be happy to use this instead, but in the meantime does a great job for what I need it for.

Very happy with it
I am using this as my main TV. I am currently watching breakfast news with the lights on and the projector in eco mode and it is perfectly watchable. It is on a media unit about 6 inches from the wall on which it is projecting giving me a screen size of about 65 inches. I had two big issues when I first set it up (which just involves plugging it in and putting it on the table): the fan noise is very noticeable at the lowest eco setting but switching to the highest eco mode makes it hardly perceptible (this does dim the image but I actually found it too bright at the other extreme. I will probably only use the other setting when watching films in a group at which point the volume will mask he fan noise). Although it was easy to connect my sonos sound bar via the optical out, I noticed that sometimes the sound was out of sync. I was ready to return the unit as this was going to be a deal breaker, but it was actually easy to solve in the settings menu. Do make sure you are aware that this UK model does not have the Smart features of the US model that is the one you will see in the reviews. However, the US model retails for about £1100 and since you can get the Smart features by adding a £30 Roku stick (as I have) it's not much of a loss. For me the ease of set up (plugging it in where my TVs used to sit with the same cables) makes this a real winner. Had it for over a year and still happy with it ( just been watching the new Blade Runner)

Fernseh-Ersatz gelungen.
