Harry Potter - Complete 8-Film Collection

One week before the 8th Harry Potter film arriving in cinemas I had never seen any of the movies or read any of the books. I had largely dismissed them as being aimed at too young an audience to fit in with my personal tastes. Ahead of a trip to Florida, where the family would be visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal's Islands of Adventure, I started to watch borrowed DVDs of the earlier films from friends and neighbours and was immediately hooked! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the last film on the big screen, were blown away by the theme park, and pre-ordered this box set as soon as we got the chance. I was never much a fan of fantasy literature before 2011 - you couldn't persuade me to watch The Lord of the Rings again, although I enjoyed watching and reading A Game of Thrones, so that tells you roughly where I'm coming from. The Harry Potter series has had me completely gripped, to the point that I'm really sad it's over. Our youngest (3) now requests these DVDs more than any Disney/Pixar type film, and I it hard to drag myself away from watching the early films over again with him. (I should say that only the earlier films are suitable for smaller children.) The value for money that you are getting out of this collection of DVDs is fantastic. With the quality of the content, I would happily have paid double and then some! The stories by Joanne Rowling are brilliantly paced, and happen in a beautifully fleshed-out world. The casting, with so many of the characters growing up on screen throughout the timeline, was either inspirational or incredibly lucky. The full set of films are a must for any Potter fan to own, and if you've never been exposed to these magnificent stories, I really suggest that you treat yourself. I was transformed from a sceptic to a big fan in the space of a week and I can't recommend these films highly enough.

The amazing Harry Potter book series comes to life through these fantastically made blockbuster movies. After all, it's not everyday an adventure comes along that mixes magic, action, friendship, and ... Quidditch! Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, Hagrid and Professor Snape are some of the many unforgettable characters that will stay fresh and magical for generations to come and Hogwarts is an ideal educational establishment for anyone of us don’t you think? Lol. Not only do The Harry Potter movies bring the heartwarming and exciting magic to your tv screens, they do so much more by delighting fans of J.K. Rowling's books while also entertaining those who are/we’re new to the Potterverse. Like the books, the movies do get darker and more intense as the series progresses but I can’t wait to introduce these movies to my little girl. I have loved these movies, though I was introduced to the potterverse quite late compared to most youngsters. To me these movies are faultless and amazing and I highly recommend them. I’ve binged watched this box set so many times. The box set is of impeccable quality and purchased for a fab price.

I have now owned a copy of this boxset for over 4 years, and I can safely say, it is a good quality box set. What you get in the box set is 4 cases with 2 discs each. Each disc is a copy of a movie. One thing I did notice, is that the discs look like they were taken from previous releases, and just put together in one boxset, but this is just me being a bit picky. The picture quality of each movie is very good DVD quality. In the photos, are the cases with discs. The exterior of each case is designed to look like a movie poster of each respective film, while the inside gives a brief description (behind the discs), and a picture for each movie. The exterior box holding the cases is the typical card you find on boxsets these days, so not much to say about that. Overall, I have no regrets about buying this boxset, because Harry Potter is such a fantastic series of movies (and of course, books), that it would not feel right to watch the movies in any other way. If you want a boxset containing all movies for a reasonable price, then this is a good choice.

I don't know what Amazon has done -- seems to have mixed reviews for similar but different products. I had been worried about comments suggesting pirated discs, ex-rental discs, damaged discs, 20-minute ads/trailers, and so on, but I needn't have been. It seems that there are no particular extra features on these discs (there might be, we haven't investigated all the menu options yet) but we just wanted the films so we could clear the digibox of the ITV broadcasts. There are no doubt 'collectors' editions retailing for much more, with bonus features and such like, but we didn't want nor expect those on this set. The discs are clearly labelled "For rental or resale" so they were probably used as rental sets. However, the discs we have played so far simply load up the menu (after a fairly lengthy intro, but no trailers or ads etc.) and play fine. Discs aren't damaged in any way. You get four cases (two discs per case) in a cardboard outer shell, just as you get with many box sets these days. You probably need to be careful to find out exactly what set you are purchasing. At date of order (23 December 2013) this is the set that was dispatched. If you get a dodgy set then Amazon may well be picking stock from less reputable suppliers.

Non sapevo che l'edizione Regno Unito avesse solo le versioni inglese e tedesco ... ero convinta che tutte le edizioni avessero più lingue!

Auch wenn nach meiner Meinung die Filme niemals an die Bücher herankommen werden sind die Filme in sich sich selbst einfach super.unterhaltsam, packend und genial. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint und Emma Watson verzaubern das Publikum von Teil 1 bis 8 immer wieder aufs neue und es ist schön und nostalgisch diese Charaktere erwachsen werden zu sehen. Die Filme sind respektvolle Umsetzungen der Bücher, auch wenn es zum Beispiel bei Teil 5 einfach unmöglich ist über 1000 Seiten Buch in einen einzigen Film zu stopfen. Kann ich nur empfehlen!

My hubby loves it! It's great to have all the Harry Potter movies in one nice set. The price was right, too.

All is good. Movies play well etc. My only concern was/is that the dvd all have chinese digital names (except for 2 that are named NEW) making me wonder if they are Chinese knock-offs. I sent an email to Amazon enquiring about that & never received a reply which made me even more suspicious. However, as I said, they play well.
