I think I found a way to get the bot to make accurate maps!
Update: I think I found a way to make the Deebot create better maps. Tried it twice and both times it worked! The bot doesn't understand closed doors and treats them as walls initially, but as soon as you open the door it will find its way in and marks that opening as door, but will not add any space outside that door to the room it's mapping. First turn off AIVI Smart Recognition until mapping is complete. That slows down the process and every couch leg or bed post will throw the bot into a spin. So, despite what Ecovacs app said I closed my bedroom door and let the bot go through the side door to the walk-in closet and go out through the bathroom door, mapped the apartment and went back through the same bathroom door for a charge. It swept the apartment and created the map in one run and I didn't even have to edit the map, every boundary was correct. Give it a try... Your mileage may vary depending on how big your place is, but for multiple bedrooms I suggest you close all doors except for the room where the bot is. Let it map the common areas and create the initial map. Once that's done, open all closed doors and run the bot again. It will go clean all those rooms and maps them as separate spaces and doors are no longer walls to the bot. I also gave back the bot one star since the replacement refurb Deebot I've got met the expectation of refurbished product. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Again I had to drop two stars just for the archaic and mediocre app and anther just because the refurbished unit I've got has used parts. Side brushes are bent, filter is dirty and the main brush has hair in it. It has to go back. And it's beyond me why a company that creates such good hardware is unable to create a decent app for it. Two years in and it's still impossible to divide rooms correctly.

Decent refurbished vacuum.
This arrived a few days ago so I've had time to get it hooked up to their app and my wifi. The vacuum looked almost perfect new with a couple of minor scratches that might have happened the first time I had it map my house and vacuum it. I already have the T8plus version with the auto empty bin so this is a upgrade for me to the AIVI version with the camera for avoiding things and checking the house on it's camera if needed. I had to pull out a couple of vacuum empty port blocks in the bottom below the dust bin and swap to the auto empty dust bin from my other T8. This one cleans as well or better then my old one and once I got the map the way I wanted it it just does it's job according to the schedule I set or when I manually tell it to clean a area. When you set the map I suggest turning off any ad blocking or other security programs and turn off cell service just in case as it can get picky getting it hooked up to the program and wifi. Also remember it only use 2.4 ghz wifi and your phone has to be on the same 2.4 network to make everything work the first time setting it up. The machine is built pretty solid and it's not super loud if you want to run it at night, however the camera works better if it has some light to work with for the video. Right now you can't beat the price for this unit even though its older, parts like brushes and bags and everything else are still readily available for good deals. I'll update if anything changes right away but so far a happy camper.

Worst machine
I used to have an old model of Deebot and due to some mechanical wheel issue I upgraded to this one without another thought. The old machine used to clean spotless and I used for almost 3 years without any issue. This machine is very bad at cleaning from Day 1. Initially I thought mapping issue. But it is not. I tried reaching out to Amazon and they asked me to contact Manufacturer. Meanwhile I lost my return window. I contacted Manufacturer and after few back and forth communication, they do not support the Seller "Woot" and asked me to contact Woot. I contacted Woot and they said I crossed the 90 days period so they can't replace the machine and asking me to contact the manufacturer. Such a waste of time & money. Now I'm not sure who else to contact.

Great hardware, sound, power. Worthless mapping
The robot is made very premium. It vacuums well and fast. Battery life is long so it can do my house in one go as opposed to my Roomba i3 which needs to charge for an hour and half in the middle of the job to finish. On the other hand, if you want a vacuum to use with Alexa or Google to clean a room or have it clean a specific area in your house using the map, forget it. The making of the initial map is fast and easy, but the second time the vacuum runs it will distort the map sideways or off to the side by 3 ft. You can see in the screenshot that the second time the vacuum ran it overlaid the same map over the original map but off by 30° for no apparent reason. This requires the map to be reset over and over and over. That being said, for the sale price of $150, its still worth it for the machine itself.

Set and forget, mopping is a good feature as well.

I am furious. We have just received the Deebot with paperwork that says it is a reconditioned model. The add just has the word “(renewed)” in the title - there is nothing that says this is not a new model. This add is clearly intended to mislead. DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU WANT A SECOND HAND ONE

Yes, I fell for the same con. It is refurbished. Nothing in the add suggested it was refurbished (they said renewed, that doesn’t mean second hand). Internationally misleading. Came with the wrong cables too.
