Fantastic volume from a fantastic series. New 52 brings Batman to life in both the detective and warrior appeals. I strongly advice this, the story is so enthralling.

... 52 Batman and this is another epic volume of brilliant art and writing
This book covers stories #41-45 of the new 52 Batman and this is another epic volume of brilliant art and writing. Yes this is only the first half of the story but I think the other reviews are a little harsh seen as this does contain enough story to keep you reading the whole way through, I for one read it all in one sitting and that is in no way a complaint, #SPOILER- commisioner Gordonn's batman is both exciting amd interesting and its very fun to read about how gordon views batmans ideals amd behaviour All in all another great volume and concludes endgame

Batman Vol. 8: Superheavy
Batman is presumed dead following Joker's Endgame attack. The GCPD inaugurate a 'Batman' program and nominate former Commissioner Gordon to be the first new Batman. Clark Kent pays a visit on Bruce Wayne, but is told by Alfred that Bruce no longer remembers anything about Batman - a peace that Alfred has long prayed for. A story in transition, with plenty of action as we see Gordon's take on the Dark Knight. Snyder mixes in a good measure of wry humour, nostalgia and sympathy as readers are introduced to the life that Bruce Wayne could have and should have had, but for that fateful night in Crime Alley.

More of a whimper than a bang
This was supposed to be the last book in Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's amazing run on Batman, although with the recent announcement of All-Star Batman as part of DC's Rebirth launch, that is no longer the case. Let me say, I am a big fan of the Snyder/Capullo run - the run contained some really great story arcs, including year one and endgame, which for my money, match up to some of the great Batman stories like the Long Halloween and Hush. SPOILER - DON'T READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T READ ENDGAME. Still here? This story take place following the supposed death of Batman and the Joker as part of the Endgame storyline. Batman has been replaced by Jim Gordon in a mech suit, a police and city-sponsored robo-batman trying to fill the void left by the death of Bruce Wayne's original. The story has some nice moments and the villain is imaginative and well designed, but for me, it all felt a bit flat and disappointing as an end to the run.

Snyder Capullo Show
Great storyline and great artwork! The continued run of this line really shows just how versatile this genre can be. That said I would have liked to see the new Bat go up against an old enemy, just for kicks. Apart from that it's brilliant, can't wait for the next instalment!
