Himalayan Chandra Neti Pot Complete Sinus Cleansing System Starter Kit

This little pot has saved me from many a headache and runny nose. I was very apprehensive about using it the first time, sure I would end up with a ear infection, a raging sinus infection and a gravely voice! However all I have had since I started about 7 months ago is clear sinuses and happy ears. And my voice suffered no ill effects either. :) I have severe allergies, the get-into-bed-I'm-feeling-so-bad kind. I have been on cortical steroids and get a sinus infection about every year. When I stopped the cortical steroids, I was desperate. They hadn't worked at all, and my daily allergy pill didn't seem sufficient. I did research, and I learned about neti pots. I bought this one in a fit of desperation. And it worked. I used it every day, twice everyday! I ran off swimmers ear and a sinus infection with this thing (the sinus infection was cause by allergies and the fact that I hadn't been using my neit pot for abut two weeks). It really has helped make my life more bearable. I would recommend it to anyone. I use a little stainless steel scoop for my salts, which is about 1/4 t. If I fill my pot extra full, I will put in a heaping scoop. For water, I bring a tea kettle of water to a boil, and then let it cool off before pouring it into a large sun tea mason jar. I then use this water to fill my neti pot and then I microwave the full neti pot on high for 30 seconds. After that I put my salts in, stir until it's all dissolved. You do not want to skip this step! There is nothing worse than getting a clump of salt stuck in your sinuses. Trust me. I then neti half the pot in one nostril and the other half in the other nostril. If I have a cold or really bad allergies, I will neti one pot per nostril, but for "every day maintenance" half a pot per works well for me. You can use tap water, but our water is hard, and I like the extra safety measure that boiling takes.

This set was a pretty good starter kit for getting into nasal washing. I know that this practice sounds strange for newcomers, but it really is a great way to help with allergies. I'm not going to claim that this works miracles, but it really does help you breath better and is also rather therapeutic. I feel like I just came out of a spa every time I use it. Head positioning is key to avoid having salt water come into your mouth but it isn't tragic if that does happen. The feeling during the wash is really just the same as getting water up your nose, but you still have the ability to breath through your mouth. It sounds intimidating but it really isn't bad and I haven't heard of anybody that refused to use it again after trying it once. As for the pot, it seems to be of very good quality. I've heard of horror stories of people buying cheap ceramic pots, so I would always rinse it well before the first use and poke and prod anything that looks suspect. My neti pot was perfectly fine and I really like it's design. I like the fact that it's ceramic so that I can run hot water through the pot and heat it up. I find that this helps warm water not instantly get cold. As for the salt, I liked the fact that this kit included salt. I knew going in that most people recommended just buying salt at the grocery store since it was much cheaper but I still had a little skepticism about just buying salt off the grocery store shelf. It turns out that the people were right. The salt included is just non-iodized salt in a little tub. I would still understand a newcomer wanting to purchase the neti pot salt the first time but I will pick up my future salt at the store. As for the booster oil, it really doesn't do much for me. I tried it a few times but it just seemed a little weird and I didn't notice it much. Maybe this has use for some people but it just isn't my thing. Overall a good set and I hope to get my wife to try it sometime soon (when she doesn't think it's water torture). When she does decide to try it, I will buy this set again so that we could each have our own.

This is the first review I have ever written because I really want people to know how helpful this little pot is. I usually have a head cold and sinus infections that start in November and last through April. Not this year though! I received my Neti Pot Starter Kit right at the onset of a bad head cold. Now, this really was the perfect test for this little device. Both my nostrils were completely clogged and blowing my nose would only help for a few seconds until my ears popped and then I was completely congested again. I used the Neti Pot and was amazed after the first use. My head cleared, my ears popped, I had my balance back, and I felt ALOT better. My head cold didn't disappear, but I never had to use any cold medicines or antihistamines. And most importantly, the cold and congestion didn't move to my chest like it usually does. I think it's important to mention that I am a pack a day smoker. The cold was completely gone after 10 days! I don't know if the Zinc drops that come with this kit helped or not, and I don't really care. I still use them and the Neti Pot twice a day now. This thing really works and it has improved my quality of life. The process is as easy as watering a plant and takes as long as brushing your teeth, don't be afraid. I plan on using mine everyday the rest of my life. I can't say that about many things. Ok, I hope that was helpful. I am horribly allergic to my dogs. To make things worse, my dogs shed like it's going out of style. There is dog hair all over the house, all the time, no matter how often my wife and I dust and vacuum. I also have to take Claritin daily or I will feel like death. One day, my allergies were raging, searching for some kind of relief, I ordered this praying it would help. And it definitely does! But it's not the life changing relief I hoped for. I suppose my expectations were a bit too high. I use bottled water which I heat up for 30 seconds in a glass measuring cup or in the neti pot itself in a microwave. When using the salt and the included oil included, my nasal passages definitely feel cleaner and more open. My eyes don't itch as bad and I just feel a bit better. As for the cons; the relief I mentioned only lasts an hour or so. I will do this shortly before bed so I can breathe a bit easier as I fall asleep. The whole process of flushing both nostrils and clean-up takes about 10 minutes. It doesn't sound that long, but if you're lazy, like me, it's noticeable. Especially when you have to do it every single day. If I don't do it daily, it seems to lose effectiveness. Lastly, probably a personal issue, but if I don't take my Claritin, my nose is too clogged for the water to pass through, thus making this useless. It's not THE answer to allergie relief, but when combined with allergie medication and regular household cleaning, it helps a lot. It can take a few days to get used to, but you'll eventually get the hang of it. You really need to be diligent about using this, though. If not, it won't be as helpful as you'd like.

I couldt belive i bought this? why? i dont really venture in to alterative methods for hygiene or health products. And i will spare you the details of my personal sinus/postnasal drip issue, suffice it to say that is the reason i bought this Neti Pot. I SImply works amzing! it is completely wierd to use. I mean you find yourself tiping a small teapot filled with water (actually a saline solution with optional botanical mixture for aromatheraphy) into your nose while your head it tipped over and also completly tilted to the side. it wierd feeling, that a honest description of the use. the whole process take at least 8-10 minutes. the wierd feeling leaves after about 4 or 5 uses though. As far as effectiveness OMG! it really clears up and removes sticky mucuse from deep inside my.... i dont know where? lots comes out :P sorry i am reviewing a nasal wash kit lol. i usually feel the clear passages for more than 24 hours, it is really noticable after 2-4 days though that i really "want" to use it again. supposedly it is safe to use as often as you want even few times every day!!! (i only go about 2-3 per week if that) but i can say that i have never had any ill effects or uncomfort. ive had mine for more than 6 months now i think? i have heard that some peopl have a problem getting water in thier ears or something? i was worried about it when i read the reviews. i have never had that issue personally. Not much else to say. i do reccomend this kit for those of you that havent found relief with other means. i made a BIG difference in my life. feel free to send me a question if you have any...

This Neti pot is great! I had never used one before I purchased this one and I'm very happy that I gave it a try. Sure, it was a little odd at first, but my sinuses felt clearer after the first time that I tried it! I've been using it before bed every night and I don't feel as stuffy when i wake up in the morning. It has also helped to prevent the nosebleeds that I get every year when the heat dries out the air. I've been using it almost a week now and I've had a huge improvement. I can't wait to see how much better it gets as I use it longer! This is a great starter set since it has everything that I need all together in one box. It has detailed instructions that are easy to follow. Also, there are a bunch of videos on YouTube that show people using their Neti pots and they really helped me to do it correctly the first time. I'm so glad that I gave this a try! ***UPDATE***: After having very uncomfortable results using my neti pot at my mother's house (who has a well with water softener), I discovered that using distilled water with the neti works very well. i just put water in a glass measuring cup with a pour spout, microwave the water for 30 seconds, and then it is the perfect temperature for neti.

I promised myself that I had to find the time to write a review on this product. Before purchasing, I read all of the reviews - YES, ALL. My story with the Neti began with one of my bosses. I had asked him whether or not he could recommend a natural remedy for my seasonal allergies. He is a widely travelled man. He recommended the NETI. This was last year - 2010 after a persistent bout with allergies. I did look up the NETI but did not buy it then. Initially, I would suffer with 'seasonal' allergies during the month of April only. It was mild but I noticed with time it got increasingly worse. From last April to November I realized that I had been popping Zyrtec D, yes, D on a daily basis. That was a concern to me. Also, it is true what they say that after a while the MEDS do not work. How frustrating! Then at the beginning of 2011 I decided to buy this kit. I let it sit for a while thanks to some of you who wrote about the sensation of drowning. Didn't want to drown!:). I am pleased to say that I tried it for the first time on Sunday, because like I said before, from April through November I had been popping pills. I noticed that in December/January, I couldn't breathe well again at night. Running nose.... My heart started racing as I began the process. Well, surprise, surprise, no issues at all. It fact, the instructions worked so well becaue when water started coming out of the other nostril immediately. I was so startled. I slept well that night and I have been using it nightly ever since. I no longer have the popping ears, itching mouth and problems breathing. I actually prayed to GOD that this would be the solution to my pill popping. I am so HAPPY that it worked. I am curious to see how I will fear in April this year but I am SO optimistic. Thank you for you reviews. Without them, I am not sure I would be 'NETI'ING' now.

This thing works and although it feels weird to use (think jumping into a pool without plugging your nose), it does make my head feel clearer and relieves my constantly runny nose for at least a day or so. I'm giving it 3 stars because it arrived with a chip in the glaze right at the spout, which is where the most bacteria is likely to collect in the porous ceramic. So I'll eventually need to buy a replacement. My suggestion to the seller is to actually wrap the little pot in bubble wrap or something, because it was just hanging out in a cardboard box and not really protected by anything. Other than that, the salt and the neti wash plus are great. The drops smell good and are refreshing.

Wouldn’t be without it! Use most days for general health & wellbeing. Haven’t had a cold since I started using it! I use a couple of times a day if I ever feel the niggles of a cold starting. I always combine this with taking echinacea tincture at the first sign of a cold & so far, so good! I am surrounded by colds & viruses in my job so it’s been invaluable.

You can tell it's a high quality product and arrived just as described! I'm still trying to master the proper technique, but it is pretty simple to use. It's been quite effective to clear my sinuses. I like the quality of the salts and liquid with essential oils that came with the neti pot.
