Box store brand likely be less expensive, boast of features like, a wide safety guard, adjustable handle and hopefully cutting cord can be replaced after one season of beating the activation button on the ground as described by maker. typically the box store unit will work-for a few seasons then you wish for metal vice plastic parts and off the shelf replacement parts. This unit is the simple upgrade The unit is lighter weight, good metal construction, bolted, smaller guard, easier storage, typical well constructed active head. Power is nearly the same as corded using two lights and will cut most as such; unit will trim grass just fine with power given with one light selected. Battery efficiency is excellent. I'm inclined to give this unit 4 stars as an effective tool compared to any corded or battery weed/wacker trimmer because when you pull the trigger it doesn't scare the dog or want to take off to the moon like most wackers.
