Edited, Introduced and Annotated by Cedric Watts, M.A., Ph.D., Emeritus Professor of English, University of Sussex. The Wordsworth Classics' Shakespeare Series, with Henry V and The Merchant of Venice as its inaugral volumes, presents a newly-edited sequence of William Shakespeare's works. The textual editing takes account of recent scholarship while giving the material a careful reappraisal. Othello has long been recognised as one of the most powerful of Shakespeare’s tragedies. This is an intense drama of love, deception, jealousy and destruction. Desdemona’s love for Othello, the Moor, transcends racial prejudice; but the envious Iago conspires to devastate their lives. In its vivid rendering of racism, sexism, contested identities, and the savagery lurking within civilisation, Othello is arguably the most topical and accessible tragedy from Shakespeare’s major phase as a dramatist. Productions on stage and screen regularly renew its power to engross, impress and trouble the imagination. Review: Good copy to write on - My eldest needed a copy of this for A level english and didn't want to spend a lot as they wanted to write in it and highlight (they have a different copy for reading). This does the job. They love the wordsworth classics for this reason - cheaper and they don't mind using them for annotating. Review: Perfect for school - Perfect for my son for school.

Good
Over all thw book is good however the pages are really thin and the whole book can be easily ripped. But what do you expect if your only paying £2 something If you want to make notes i recommend getting a better one that gives you space and lasts

The story is interesting
The story is interesting and entertaining. However, I required notes to make sense of this. I forgot to get a copy which contained "standard English" on the side.

absolutely fantastic
This is one of my favourite shakespearean plays. Absolutely fantastic! This edition is well done, the introduction is very useful in order to do critical assumptions on the play. So it is perfect for me since I am studying English literature.

Disappointed
I'm so disappointed. The book came with a different cover and it was damaged. Return is a headache so I have to keep it.

Top Klassiker
Meiner Meinung nach eines der spannendsten Werke von Shakespeare. So macht auch das Lesen von klassischer Literatur Spaß. Die Ausgabe ist auch für den Preise in Ordnung.
