Works as expected so far
Bought to use in our motorhome when out and about. Couldn't get it to connect initially, but soon worked out that the APN settings were automatically populated with Vodafone settings (which is the correct network) but the SIM card was from Talkmobile so I had to find those APN settings on t'internet and enter them manually and set as default, and then bingo! I used a USB cable from my laptop to the Huawei E5785 router to do the initial setup ( change SSID and password etc) then connected through Wifi from then on. I would recommend installing the Huawei AI app (I put it on my android phone) and connecting to the router through it as you can control and change all the settings from that. Download speeds are obviously dependent on the signal but don't expect 300Mbps. More along the lines of standard non-fibre broadband for me, but so far so good.

Router and Hotspot for internet
used as a router using the usb plugged into a laptop, it gives internet without WIFI reliability, in the way a cat5 cable works. Stick a sim in, from any provider and you have a mobile hotspot, and router. This replaced an older version. battery life is long (all day use).

Huawei E5785-92c, 4G CAT6 hotspot - a lockdown lifesaver for homeworking!
For a few years I have been using an old unlocked cat 4 EE 4G hotspot with an O2 data plan. This was ok until the covid 19 lockdown began. Then I began getting very poor signal strength, dropped links etc. Lots of people working from home I guess. Anyway, moving about the house for a better signal had little effect. So after much research I bought this. What a difference! My download speed has increased approx 5 fold, with uploads 3 - 4 times faster. This being on the 2.4ghz 4g band. Unfortunately 5g is not available in my area so couldn't test that, but the mifi being dual band does allow me to choose 5ghz where available if 4g is getting a bit clogged. That should mean faster speeds again. Apart from that, cant fault the seller as the speed of postage from UK mainland to N. Ireland was extremely quick and reasonably priced. Would highly recomend this mifi device.

Struggle to get to work.
Unfortunately had to go back to my original box. I'm sure this is a good product not for me. Keeps loosing Internet. My old one seems to work fine.

Putting an EE SIM card in
I expected a slot like on a mobile to insert SIM card. Couldn't see any instructions, so hope this and the photos help. First take the back cover off, there is a slot at one corner to lever it off. Then move the metal cover to unlock position and lift it up. I used a micro 10gb data SIM from EE, place it so contacts are downwards and bottom right is the cutoff corner of SIM. bring metal cover down and click it to locked position. insert battery. press button for about 2 secs and screen will say welcome and then eventually will show the EE screen. if you've put sim in wrong, it will say insert simm and try again.

Good portable router
Took it to Spain so laptop could be used for Video meetings. Had to leave mini router on veranda as signal was poorer when taken inside. Also used it to watch Netflix and prime. Very good signal most of the time. This will be a regular use for the router. Very pleased with it. Quite easy to set up. Press menu button and find passwords to type in manually.

Loving my new gadget
Many of the negative reviews seem to concern signal - which in theory is not strictly the fault of the router and is in fact the network provider chosen by the purchaser. If you live in an area with poor 4G coverage then nothing is gonna work! I live in a largish house and got coverage for multiple devices throughout most of the rooms without much loss of signal. I bought this router for an extended caravan trip to Europe from the U.K. Straight out of the box, I fitted a different SIM card than the one provided with the router - I needed something offering unlimited data for roaming. For me, this little mini router has been a winner - we take it everywhere and run several devices through it.

Weak jittery wi-fi signal
Received an older model Huawei E5785-C16C and not as advertised newest more advanced Huawei E5785-92c therefore wi-fi signal was very weak & jittery, battery overheated very quickly (in less than 30 minutes) and most importantly maintaining 3G/4G LTE reception signal at very unstable strength (despite being close to mobile networks antennas - within 1/2 mile). It is rather overpriced low quality product (Huawei E5785-C16C) and I can't with all honesty recommend this particular model to anyone else.

piccolo. pratico e veloce
