No these roaches will survive a nuclear war . Get a pest control geezer in before it's too late and they start laying eggs ( see Alien movie)

Is it ok to use on carpets?

Well I would sample test first but I put it all around my hall edges on the carpet n it had was OK. But test a patch first.

Does this kill only the ants in contact with it or do they take it back to the nest?

Sorry iv no idea. All I can say is that as soon as Iv used this powder the ants are gone n don't seem to return, even after its rained when I have used it in the garden. Hope this helps.
