Does it work for a Nintendo Switch

Yes it does, it’s not as fast as the official cord included with the switch, however it works well enough. Even though it’s not as fast, it’s convenience makes up for it.

Does this cable have a built in 56k resistor?

This is a great question to explore as any USB Type-C cable that does not have a 56 OHM resistor can brick your Nintendo Switch. Can anyone from AMAZON actually chime in here please?

Can i transfer data to/from ipad pro 2018 to macbook pro with this cable?

Yes. One person said that you cannot use it with a 3rd generation iPad Pro 2018 because it uses USB 3. He is INCORRECT. The iPad Pro 3rd generation 12.9, 2018 comes ONLY with a USB C port. So you can plug the USB C male end into the 2018 3rd gen iPad Pro and then plug the male end of the USB-A into the USB-A port on the MacBook Pro and transfer data through iTunes.

Does this work with the samsung galaxy s8 plus?

Yes, and it works VERY well. I bought 3 more just to have them where and when ever I may need one.
