**Q: Country of manufacturing**
A: Not sure. Dont buy one. Bought ours in feb, has stopped working. Contacted seller who advised us to contact smeg, who say we have to contact seller. Nightmare.

A: Yes. The lid mechanism is operated with plastic inside.

**Q: Where is this made?**
A: The actual product is manufactured in China

**Q: This is my 2nd smeg kettle. but this one has got a metal taste in our tea.  tried boiling 4 times with lemons and bicarb.  still awful taste. help**
A: My kettle has no taste in the water but after only 2 months the lid is broken will not stay down expensive too!!!

Let's be honest about what's happening here. It's a kettle. It boils water. It does that well, quickly and without drama, and if that's all you need there are kettles at a quarter of the price that manage the same trick. You're paying for the look, and the look delivers. Cream finish, chrome handle, that fat retro shape. Matches the oversized Smeg toaster and the two of them together properly lift the kitchen. People comment on it, which is a strange thing to say about kettles, but there we are. Build feels solid. Weighty lid, nothing rattles, no cheap plastic creak when you lift it off the base. Fair warnings. It's loud. And it marks easily, so if you like fingerprint-free surfaces you'll be wiping it more than you expect. Worth it? If you want a kettle, no. If you want your kitchen to look a certain way and the kettle is part of that, yes. I did, and I'd buy it again.
