Great piece of kit, easy to use and the quality is excellent. We have 100’s of negatives and I wanted to upload them to Google photos so we could see them on our digital photo frames. The instructions are simple and they load onto an SD card quickly. I noticed occasionally that the scanner would stop but simple to switch off and switch on again and it continues to work. I have scanned around 200 negatives in the past two days with very little issue. The great news is if the photos are uploaded to Google photos then Google will fix the lighting etc on the upload photo. Good piece of kit for the price.

Just like most people buying a product like this, I have hundreds of old 35mm sides put away in boxes and never looked at. I thought I'd buy this and finally store at least some of the slides. I unpacked and read the quick instructions and was up and running in a few minutes. I tried the flat 4-window carrier and it worked just fine but was rather slow so I tried the stack filler. This worked fine with the thicker plastic slides but kept jamming with cardboard or very thin slides. However, I found that, even just putting the slides in one by one into this carrier, it was quicker than using the flat 4-window carrier. You have to push the slide in carefully to prevent misalignment, but all in all the system worked fine. It's difficult to comment on the sharpness or colour accuracy without projecting the slides and comparing with the scanned image but they looked fine and I was happy to have digitised versions of those old images. You can see each silde on the front projected face and you have the chance to adjust brightness/exposure before pressing capture. I just left it in mid position. The other choice is resolution 5 or 10M. I changed to 10M each time I turned the machine on. It plugs into a USB port to power up . You have to have a SD card pushed into the card slot for the machine to work even if plugged into a computer's USB port, which also powers the device. On my Windows computer, the machine appears as a folder and you can copy the photos and paste as you wish. Sometimes you have to pull the plug out and push back in again and do the same with the SD card on occasion. The machine also stores the images on the SD card and you can view them and delete if you wish from the computer or in stand-alone mode. Overall, the scanner does it's job. Not sure whether purists will find the images of the highest quality, but the machine is not expensive and is far better than the last one I had. I'm very pleased to have it and finally be able to show old pictures to my highly amused children!

Pleasantly surprised with this. I bought it to digitise my old slide collection and didn't have terribly high expectations given the price. However, it's simple to use and, viewed on a large screen TV the results are really pretty good. I haven't looked closely at the scans on a decent monitor yet, or tried to manipulate them but for casual showing to friends and family it's fine. The bulk slide loader is frustrating in that it jams easily but it's also easy to unblock. I scanned some 400 slides in a few hours then watched them by directly connecting the scanner via USB to my PS4. Simples and no extra power supply needed. The LCD screen is basic and low Res but the fact that the scanner does not need to be connected to a PC is a great benefit. This is not a scanner for the enthusiast but for digitising those old slides or 35mm film negs ( though I have not tried that yet ) it does a decent job.

Does all that you would expect and for the price I can't complain. I scanned in from negs that were over 50 years old so you can't expect them to be perfect. It is quick and easy to use. My only reservation is the the "High Resolution" it really is not and putting it in the 10 mpx mode does nothing to improve the case. You get what you pay for, feels cheap and flimsy but does (almost) what it said it would.

After scanning just 110 slides it broke. I would press the capture button and the screen would just go black and it became unresponsive. On top of that the image quality using either the 5mpx or 10mpx mode was terrible which is impossible to know until you view the images on a computer at full resolution. The slide feeder mostly worked but did frequently get jammed no matter how careful I was when using it. I know it’s a cheap product but it didn’t even achieve the quality in the write up.

This is a great scanner for converting slides into jpeg files for viewing / storing on a computer. I've got an Epson full size scanner which can scan slides but the process of loading the slides is quite fiddly and time consuming. For amateur 35mm slides, this scanner is ideal since the slides can be stacked in the tray and each slide only takes about 1 - 2 seconds to scan with the sliding tray arrangement being very efficient. With a bit of practice a box of 36 slides can be scanned in less than 5 minutes. A few reviewers have given adverse comments on the instruction manual and it's true that it's not that brilliant. However the menu system is quite simple so, although an OAP, I managed to work out how to use it in a few minutes. The main thing to note is that you have to scan the slides or film to an SD card (not supplied) and then transfer the images as a separate operation. I use a MAC and when I connected the scanner, it recognised the SD card in the scanner as an external drive without any driver or setting up being required. Its then a matter of copying them in the same way as with a memory stick or any other external source. I purchased a 16GB card (approx £7) and with each standard resolution scanned image being about 1MB this card will hold around 16,000 pictures! On a test print on photo paper the 1MB image on A4 is perfectly acceptable. Once the images are scanned into the computer they can be manipulated in the same manner as any other image using photo processing software. I haven't tried the scanner with colour or B&W negative film so can't comment on that facility but for old 35mm slides this scanner a fast and effective way of creating digital files from them.

China can make first class optical and digital apparatus (for example I own an excellent Chinese microscope) but this item is not in that category. I might call it cheap and cheerful, except that at about £70 it is not really cheap for what it produces. It is perfectly satisfactory for reproducing holiday photos from old slides, but the contrast is very high, the colours unsubtle and the result will need some adjustment in an app like PhotoShop. I bought the device to replace a flat bed scanner with slide attachment that had gone wrong. This item does not compare, but there really is nothing else, apart from professional kit, on the market. It is easy to use even if it does not have the feel of a quality product. It offers two levels of resolution, but I cannot see the difference in the resultant images. It has the advantage that images can be downloaded to SD card, which is essential if you are using Linux rather than Windows or Apple. If the build were more solid or the price less I could give it 5 stars.

This is a good gadget, easy to use and giving results which are fair for the price - not good enough quality for a 'serious' photographer, perhaps, but just the job for giving a new lease of life to almost-forgotten holiday slides. But there seems to be a basic quality control problem, hence my 2-star rating. On the first one I got, the all-important On/Off/Menu button turned the screen on but the menu wouldn't open, making it unusable. I returned it (thanks, Amazon!) and ordered another. On the second one, the button worked well the first time I turned it on, but the next time it did nothing - I could see a light inside through the side slit, but the screen was dead. Nothing I could do would revive it, so back that one went for another refund, and I ordered a third. This one also refused to turn the screen on at first, but I persisted with my button-pressing and, hooray, after about 20 jabs it came to life and now seems happy to work whenever I ask it to. But it really should be easier than this!
