The best comb on the market
The only thing on the market that removed the eggs as well as the lice! After weeks of lotions and shampoos and itchy scalps of 4 kids - we are now nit free. Totally worth it and not like other combs, its very sturdy and doesnt bend at all. I’m so pleased!

Gets rid of the eggs/shells
Our 11 year old caught them from dancing class, we got rid of the crawlers, a couple of weeks later the eggs hatched and we got rid of those too, using a normal nit comb. However she had hundreds of unhatched/dead eggs as her hair is almost waist length, and they were difficult to get pick out with fingernails never mind the comb. The nitty gritty, just on 1 application on conditioned hair has left her with virtually no eggs, just the odd one which come out with a second going over. Can’t believe the transformation! It is very fine toothed but our daughter has thick hair and it didn’t hurt her, hair loss was minimal. 100% recommend, I was getting worried as it’s summer holidays and it didn’t feel like the unhatched eggs were going to go as they’re glued to the hair shaft but this comb works!

Does the job on the cheap; will last a long time
As many people will have experienced, dealing with nits is a total drain. Up until recently I had a pack of trusty nit combs which was my go-to and had lasted a number of years. However, due to the plastic material, they eventually deteriorated to the point of no return - impossible to clean and so brittle the teeth fell off in clumps. But there were benefits, which I'll touch on later. I have used chemical formulas and the fairly recent dehydration type formulas (the latter of which are very good), but with the frequency with which you may have to battle those dreaded nits, they can be expensive compared to a comb. The Nitty Gritty is pretty well represented with reviews, and rightly so. A very solid, sturdy metal construction with little grippy bits on the handle part, it's unlikely to bend or break unless you deliberately set out to destroy it! So no more breaking plastic components. Secondly, it has rounded edges on the base of the prongs, so it isn't likely to rip open your scalp anytime soon. Finally - the unique feature - is the spiral-like construction of the prongs, ensuring your nits and lice aren't able to easily stick in your hair. As usual, slapping conditioner on your hair is a good way to assist with the use of the comb to give yourself the best chance of ridding the lice from hair. The Nitty Gritty worked really well, and ran through the hair easily and picked up some of the smaller lice and eggs with a first pass. My one gripe is the colour of the comb. When I had the plastic set, the combs were in yellow and lilac colour, which really helped to see the eggs and lice easily. With the metal comb, it's not so easy to identify the little monsters, and you have to wipe on kitchen roll or similar to be able to properly see if the comb has picked anything up. It's definitely a stayer in our house, and is durable enough to be kept by the bath ready for routine checks. No disintegration or broken parts are expected because of its solid metal construction. The prongs don't hurt and, providing you've used ample conditioner, it shouldn't get tangled. If it was a problem, my kids would've let me know by now - so it's got the thumbs up from them. A good investment.

Amazing comb
A must have for removing nits and eggs. My daughter has fine hair and the eggs stuck to her hair like glue! Every comb I tried didn’t work except this one! Amazing and I recommend it to everyone now who ever has the unfortunate issue with nits !!!

Lice comb
Works far better than the ones that come with the live shampoo. Use it regularly on my kids hair whenever there is an outbreak at school to ensure their hair in nit free

Nits no more ...... at last!!!!
I have two young daughters (9 & 10), both with fairly long hair. My eldest had the dreaded lice a couple of times about 3yrs ago, but nothing since. My youngest - well she's a different story!! For the past 18mths / 2yrs her head has been a popular tourist attraction for the little critters! We have tried every lotion, potion & 'sworn-by natural remedy' known to man. Of course, when you treat one head, you have to treat them all; so, with 5 in our household it's a pretty pricey pass time! In fact, if we had saved everything we have spent on these 'guaranteed' treatments, we could've had a fortnight somewhere exotic I'm sure!! About 5wks ago whilst sitting behind her on a bus, I saw the all too familiar movement I had been dreading since the last debugging 3wks earlier. I trawled websites looking for something I hadn't tried, and stumbled upon the Nitty Gritty comb. I thought 'there is no way a comb alone can work!', but after reading a chunk of the glowing reviews I thought it had to be worth a bash. I did warn my daughter however that this was the final straw - that if this didn't work, her precious locks would be leaving the comfort of her scalp!! Well 4wks on and my only complaint is that I did not know about this amazing little piece of kit sooner!!!! The first couple of comb throughs were a little unpleasant, watching the army of bugs and its campsite being dropped into the bath; but we have done it every few days since (and on the rest of the family) and whereas before there were visible eggs / egg casings still in her hair after most treatments, now there is nothing!! She is completely free of them, much to my and her relief!!! I have told every parent, grandparent and anyone who has anything to do with children I know about this comb - it really is the best thing since sliced bread!! Easy to use, incredibly effective, ridiculously cheap, chemical-free and comes with a lifetime guarantee! What more could you ask for?!

Item itself is good, but overpriced for what it is.

Even though as a comb it works well removing all the lice, it has a small gap where the lice, eggs and dirt get stuck and is quite hard to clean.

it does the job ... way better then the plastic ones.
