Is the plastic backing meant to crack in multiple places after 3 months of use?

I’ve had mine nearly 3 years it’s been washed lots of times but still in perfect condition so I’m guessing not maybe see if they’ll give you a replacement

Can my child just sit on this on a bus?

Yes, it would stop little accidents but might not stop a full on flood. Has saved my car seats enough times.
