I recently purchased two resin/marble life-size female statues for my terrace, and with the dark nights upon us wanted some inexpensive spot lighting to show up each of the rather lovely ladies - a Grecian Courtesan and a Roman Goddess. Being only 4watts each these two spotlights were certainly inexpensive to run and illuminated the statues better than what I expected. As others have stated it is a bit fiddly inserting the bulbs, but I found a bit of extra pressure had them slotting into place. You don't have to be afraid of breaking them! The lamp is well made and the spike the right size for the ground. Well satisfied.

I bought these spotlights to replace one and add more. The quality is much better than those I had previously purchased from an established online electrical supplier. The pricing makes them good value. Although agreeing with other reviewers that the bulb fitting can be fiddley, if you are able to obtain a small rubber/plastic accessory available in some GU10 light fittings, that would make fitting the bulb easier but would still require some gentle pressure to turn it. The only adverse comment was that the screw thread on one of the spikes was damaged but I overcame the problem by using the spike from an old spotlight, saving the inconvenience of returning it.

Well made and quick delivery "So why only three stars?" All round these are a well constructed, and robust lights, but; don't you just hate it when there's a "but" after connecting these lights to my outside socket newly installed as well "Bang" the house RCD unit tripped. What followed was 2 hours of checking everything; starting with the new socket then the plug, next the junction boxes, then finally the lights themselves. After disconnecting the second light the RCD stopped tripping out. Which then left me with a dilemma, do I return the faulty light which would set the job back god knows how long, or strip the lamp to find the fault and risk invalidating any warranty. It did not take long to find the fault; these lamps are metal cased, and therefore must be earthed, and because they are designed to work with halogen bulbs which get really hot the two wires leading away from the ceramic holder are heat resistant. Where these then connect to the external wire leading out of the back of the unit; the wires are joined by the wire casing being stripped back on both types of wire, and then twisted together over which a conical shaped holder is screwed onto, theoretically holding and isolating the wires, unfortunately on the live they had left a strand of wire protruding, and this was touching the outer case " Thank god for earth wires, and British standards" This was a potentially lethal fault. Now I am willing to believe this is a rare incident but I would urge you to make sure that ALL earth wires are fitted before switching these units on! Would I buy again? These are good units shame one was let down by such bad workmanship, I do need two more at the moment I am in two minds 50/50 Update 01/01/2018 Purchased two more 6 months age both perfect all still working with 5 WATT LED's FITTED so increased from 3 to 4 star rating

They are bigger than expected, but seem very sturdy. I am using them inside to light up 2 large house plants and they look fantastic. I particularly like the fact that you can choose the bulb, meaning you can go for either warm or cool lighting. These are cheaper than buying them via a electrical trade supplier. Am very pleased them and would order again.

Lights were received in very good time and are of good quality considering the cost. The problem is that the there is a fault with the bulb holder as the lamp itself does not firmly click into place. After a lot of fiddling the bulb just about stays put. In short it works ok but if knocked will loose from the holder.

Great outdoor lights, stronger than anythig I could see in any DIY stores. However they did need the maximum bulbs (50W) instead of 38W, and the tread was not good on one when screwing on the spike, but it was easily remedied by a longer screw. Great lights, good value.

I was so impressed with these i bought two further sets, Give off great light and so far seem very durable (even after heavy rain there's no sign of moisture within the unit. Just be aware you need to spend money on connectors and outdoor cable, plugs and possibly timers which can add considerable cost to the project.
