I have just tried it and they fit together no problem, I don't think there would be any difference in the real fittings between the 6' & 7'6" rods..? Hope this helps... I have the 3000 which I use with 8lb flourocarbon line for fishing for trout with worm or maggots and it’s excellent for that. The build quality is excellent and it’s a very robust and sturdy reel. **Q: Would this reel work ok with a 13ft 4-8oz beach caster?
