Game changer!
A game changer! This item is fantastic! I train often and consequently get tight back muscles (stretching and yoga simply don’t do enough to relieve the knots) so I decided to give this item a go. I spent quite a while looking at various different products - the market for back massagers is much bigger than I thought! Eventually I deceived to go with this one as it was recommended by Amazon and had lots of reviews. Design - Robust and sturdy pillow, the back strap to put it on a chair is a wonderful thing! Also compact enough to easily fit into bag / travel case so ideal to take away. Set up - very simple, press the on / off button and it will start, press again and the heat level will come on. Massage quality - A perfect blend of speed and pressure - absolutely works the knots out and at the same time is comfortable, setting is just right and it does feel like a hand massage! The machines change direction every so often which is great as it really gets into the right spots. I find it especially good for knots or tightness in the upper and middle back! Noise - The noise is minimal, you can hear the the machine whirring away but I find it quite soothing. Battery life - I’d say the only downside to this is it has to be plugged into the mains, it would be great if it had a battery option. Overall rating: 5/5 - extremely happy with this product and pleasantly surprised with the high quality for a relatively low price. This proves you don’t always have to buy the most expensive product on the market to feel the benefits.

2.5y, would rebuy
Had this 2 and a half years with use maybe twice a week. I hadn't used something like this before and it was harder (solid balls rotating) than I expected however it can be great when my chronic neck pain gets bad and I can't get a proper massage. It doesn't go high up the neck but works on where neck meets the shoulders. Sometimes need to readjust when the balls change direction as can feel great then they change direction and it gets uncomfortable. My boyfriend has been having shoulder pain (racket sports) and now requests using this too. It is very solid and gives a heavy massage, and if I've had a chronic neck flare up (eg reinjuring my existing issue) I don't use this, and especially not if I hadn't had it assessed by a medical person yet. Biggest issue with this one is the cord falls out very easily, especially if need to adjust position, which means having to plug it in and get it back into position - tricky if mobility is limited. In the last few months it sometimes seems to jam but not enough that I'd consider replacing it yet. If it broke I'd rebuy it for sure. I own three massager types - one much smaller, handheld softer silicone with vibrations which I use on the neck trigger points (as advised by healthcare) as its gentler and I can control it better; this one which is hard/solid rotating balls and I have minimal control of so good on my upper shoulders/lower neck for general tightness; and a very expensive handheld professional theragun(spelling?) which gives deep thumping type massage and is much too strong for use on neck but can be good for my shoulders BUT hard to do on myself.

Welcome addition to the pains of aging backs
I have ongoing back and shoulder issues and thought id try this after reading reviews , Its good, it feels well made and is solid . Get it placed right on your shoulders and its great , Get it in wrong position and can hurt a bit , difficult to get it right sometimes , found standing upright and placing against a wall and adjusting from there mainly and its given a really good massage . Would have given 5 stars if had another speed but all in all its good , just not great .

A great gadget for the price!
I work in an active role and since starting this position, a muscle in my mid back has taken to spasming whenever I lay down in my most comfortable position to sleep. I figured I'd give something like this a shot as I've heard good things, and tonight is the first night in months that climbing into bed hasn't pained me. This little thing is awesome, after about half and hour of letting this work on my problem area I felt less tension and haven't felt it spasm since! I have a few thoughts for people who are thinking of using this product themselves: 1. Be careful and know what's causing your pain! I know for a fact that my pain is caused by something muscular (if you want something to treat spasms, it's likely muscular too!) but for a lot of people, back and neck pain can be caused by the something spinal, like a slipped disk or just general wear and tear to the vertebrae. In that case, something like this won't help and could make it worse, so if you suspect that go to a professional before buying this! Especially if something like this before has caused you agonising pain, don't chance it! 2. It's a little cruel to be kind. The heat and motion of this thing turn into bliss after a few minutes, but if like me you haven't had a massage in ever, it's gonna hurt a little! Nothing too agonising and shouldn't be so painful that you have to tap out, but far from the perfect massage you're imagining. After a few minutes of beating your tense muscles however, this thing feels glorious. Especially when it changes directions and massages the muscles a different way, my back felt like butter! But with a deep tissue massager it gets Deep into tense muscles, and can shock you if you're not a lil prepared! 3. Make sure you've got a chair to use it on! I wouldn't recommend using this lying down as it'd be impossible to control how much pressure you want to apply to it, so check that you have a chair that you can put this on! It comes with an elastic and velcro strap with a lot of give that you can use to attach it to a chair while it's working (I have quite a decently padded desk chair that I used this on and it stretched to accommodate the padding well). Something like a dining chair may also work, but may be a little tricky if you want this for you neck and shoulders. Overall, I think for the money this thing is a lifesaver. Saves on expensive masseuse appointments and does the job, so I have no complaints! Just be careful and make sure you're safe with your body, something like this isn't for everyone!
