## Description

Product Description Discover the Perfect Electronic Fun Kits for Every Stage Our meticulously curated component kits are designed to meet your needs at every phase of your project. Each kit provides the essential parts in varying quantities. Whether you’re just starting or are deep into your project, our kits offer the flexibility and precision you need. Please note that these kits do not include control boards 74HC595 At sometime or another you may run out of pins on your controller board and need to extend it with shift registers. This example is based on the 74HC595. The datasheet refers to the 74HC595 as an "8-bit serial-in, serial or parallel-out shift register with output latches; 3-state." In other words, you can use it to control 8 outputs at a time while only taking up a few pins on your microcontroller. You can link multiple registers together to extend your output even more. 4N35 The 4N35 is an optocoupler for general purpose application. It consists of gallium arsenide infrared LED and a silicon NPN phototransistor. When the input signal is applied to the LED in the input terminal, the LED lights up. After receiving the light signal, the light receiver then converts it into electrical signal and outputs the signal directly or after amplifying it into a standard digital level. Thus, the transition and transmission of electricity-light-electricity is completed. Since light is the media of the transmission, meaning the input terminal and the output one are isolated electrically, this process is also be known as electrical isolation. PN2222 NPN Transistor The small DC motor, is likely to use more power than an digital output can handle directly. If we tried to connect the motor straight to an pin, there is a good chance that it could damage the R3 board. A small transistor like the PN2222 can be used as a switch that uses just a little current from the digital output to control the much bigger current of the motor. The transistor has three leads. Most of the electricity flows from the Collector to the Emitter, but this will only happen if a small amount is flowing into the Base connection. This small current is supplied by the digital output. Electrolytic Capacitor An electrolytic capacitor is a type of capacitor that uses an electrolyte to achieve a larger capacitance than other capacitor types. An electrolyte is a liquid or gel containing a high concentration of ions. Almost all electrolytic capacitors are polarized, which means that the voltage on the positive terminal must always be greater than the voltage on the negative terminal. The benefit of large capacitance in electrolytic capacitors comes with several drawbacks as well. Among these drawbacks are large leakage currents, value tolerances, equivalent series resistance and a limited lifetime. Ceramic Capacitor A ceramic capacitor uses a ceramic material as the dielectric. Ceramics were one of the first materials to be used in the production of capacitors, as it was a known insulator. Ceramic capacitors are usually made with very small capacitance values. Ceramic capacitors are also very small in size and have a low maximum rated voltage. They are not polarized, which means that they may be safely connected to an AC source. Ceramic capacitors have a great frequency response due to low parasitic effects such as resistance or inductance. 1N4007 Diode A diode is a device which allows current flow through only one direction. That is the current should always flow from the Anode to cathode. The cathode terminal can be identified by using a grey bar as shown in the picture above. For 1N4007 Diode, the maximum current carrying capacity is 1A it withstand peaks up to 30A. Hence we can use this in circuits that are designed for less than 1A. The reverse current is 5uA which is negligible. The power dissipation of this diode is 3W. Applications of Diode ● Can be used to prevent reverse polarity problem ● Half Wave and Full Wave rectifiers ● Used as a protection device ● Current flow regulators ..................FAQ.................. Q1: What if the holes on the breadboard are too tight/too loose and difficult to use? A1: (1) If the holes are too tight, try inserting the sensor into the breadboard from different angles. It will help the breadboard align the holes. Don't worry, the sensor pins are not easy to bend. (2) Please tell me the pin diameter of the component you are using. According to the breadboard datasheet file, the component diameter size should be between 0.4mm and 0.7mm. The minimum size is 0.4 mm. If your electronic component diameter is less than 0.4 mm, you will feel that the hole is loose. (3) If this still does not solve the problem, there may be something wrong with the breadboard. If it is convenient, please send us a video showing the breadboard problem so that we can send you a new breadboard. Q2: There is a problem with the power? A2: Please note that a power adapter is required to use the power supply module. I am sorry that this adapter is not included in this kit. But you can choose a suitable power adapter following the below requirements Output: DC 9V 1A/1000mA Plug size Outer Diameter 5.5mm Inner Diameter 2.5mm Connector inside positive (+) outside negative (-) Please feel free to let us know If you still have questions about the power supply. Q3: Where can I download the tutorial file? A3: You can download the tutorial from our official website: elegoo.com/pages/download

Review: Not a bad purchase - Decent kit if you're just looking to get started working with electronics. It has most of what you need to get off the ground at reasonable value. A few of the positives: - The breadboard is very nice, much better build quality than others I've purchased in the past. - The majority of the components work well. - The box and individual packaging of the components is useful and relatively well made. - The power supply module is attached to some foam so the pins won't bend in shipping. Then, the negatives: - The buzzers worked, but not very well. - The power supply module seems pretty cheap, and I doubt it will last long. It also doesn't come with an appropriate cable, so you'll have to supply your own to make use of it. I expected this last part because I read about its absence in other reviews, but I didn't anticipate it being such an odd cable required. - A few of the LEDs didn't work correctly (although the majority did). Overall, not a bad purchase, but if you already have some of the parts already, perhaps look for cheaper options, or something more reliable. Edit: ELEGOO contacted me after I wrote this review and sent me replacement parts without any hastle. I upgraded my rating since their customer service was so good.
Review: Incredible value for money considering the quality - I started my interest in electronics in a different age, more than 40 years ago. In those days, breadboards were very expensive and out of the reach of most hobbyists. Many a time I recycled components and the stripboard, as the cost was prohibitive. A trip to the electronics shop was expensive, and much pocket money was diligently saved for the latest chip or piece of kit. This kit which I purchased to support my Elegoo Arduino, like the processor board itself, is top notch. Extremely well packaged, I was impressed with how much was crammed into the box. The fact that high-quality polythene bags were used for the components speaks volumes, although in my day we would be looking at tin-foil or anti-static bags for the more sensitive components. I get the impression once again that Elegoo care about their customers and the quality of their offering. My only criticism I can make is trivial. The breadboard is in 3 sections, with a large self-adhesive pad for attaching to a permanent surface. I'd have preferred if the pad was packed separately, that way I could expand the board horizontally without fuss if needed. As to how long the components will last etc., with care and attention they should last well. The legs of any component will eventually give up the ghost with too much bending, and wiring errors will easily kill off polarity sensitive components such as diodes and capacitors etc. All of that is part of the rough and tumble of circuit development and testing. I wouldn't expect the kit to last forever, but it certainly won't break once you take it out the packaging. I know if as a kid my dad had brought this home I would be ecstatic. If you are looking for a components kit to introduce someone as to how to expand their Arduino or Raspberry Pi, I can't recommend this enough. You will need to purchase a device separately to get any use from it though.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Failed for my specific need
*by N***S on 28 October 2018*

I bought this initially to allow me to make up a little resistance network to calibrate a LiPo balance charger without having to solder everything. I bought a load of 1% 100ohm resistors separately and measured each one using a dmm so I could get 6 that were the same. The resistance values need to be very accurate for the calibration. There are things I like about the kit. It came very well packaged with a nice security seal and statement about rejecting the package if the seal was broken. Unfortunately, this was all inside the outer Amazon packaging and by the time I opened it up and saw the security seal on the inner package the delivery driver was long gone! Thankfully the seal was fine as were the contents. Everything is inside a nice plastic box, but there is so much in there that you have a hard job getting it all back inside the box after taking it out. There lots of items and I am sure that these will allow some fun and educational circuits to be made up. That was why I bought this and not just a standalone breadboard for a couple of pounds less. Glad I did because this brings me to the main negative point. After making up my resistor network on the breadboard and connecting everything to the balance lead for the charger I checked the resistance across the various connectors. Values were way off (once I managed to get any reading at all - some of the connector wires seemed to be making poor connections on the breadboard). I made up the circuit a different way and used the pin connector strip to connect into the balance lead. Very similar results, so I took it all apart and will solder the network together like I originally intended. I expect that for making up simple circuits on the breadboard for some fun and education purposes the kit will be fine (time will tell), but unfortunately for the specific purpose I bought it for it did not work (although I may have been expecting too much).
