Nom, nom, nom.
Having piled on the pounds during COVID lockdowns since early 2020, I decided at the start of 2022 to get back to a healthy weight and regain a level of fitness. For context, I'm a middle aged male, 5'10", always had a reasonably slim/average build, but ended up post lockdown at around 13 stone. My goal to get back to a more healthy weight. I scanned through all the listings on Amazon and found USN to be a popular brand so tried my first tub at the start of February. That first week I took a shake for breakfast and another for lunch followed by a healthy evening meal... It was tough, really tough. I'd gotten in to the habit of snacking all day, so trying to stay true to the two shake daytime regime was tricky. Filling up with water and fruit helped keep the pangs away. Another thing I should warn you about is the effect of this change in diet. The shakes increase the amount of fibre in the diet and they tend to result in an increase in wind. After the first couple of weeks the hunger pangs started to subside and two daily shakes followed by a healthy evening meal became a lot easier to manage. Thankfully the wind also subsided. 😀 I've continued with the diet in to July, so have been on the shakes for a good 6 months. And I say "good" because along with regular cardiovascular workouts I have dropped back down to my target weight of 11 stone 6. The shakes are great. I've noticed that the different flavours tend to have different consistencies but they are all worth a try. My favourites are strawberry and banana caramel, with vanilla coming in a close third place. Banana caramel has a great mixed flavour, it's thick and very filling, and is really my most ordered flavour. My tip for mixing is to fill the mixer with the desired amount of water and then add the powder, else it can become lump and difficult to mix. One final benefit of having these shakes is the price. With prices everywhere rising, I decided to do a few simple sums. The amount I used to spend on breakfast, snacks, and lunch, is miles away from the comparative pennies I spend on the shakes. I'm making significant savings every week. Couple the savings with the healthier lifestyle and it's a real no brainer!

Does what it says on the tin
Smells a bit mad, but tastes as good as any of these things can. Thicker than expected when mixed, but in a way that feels like it helps the drink to be filling. Am on my first day with it, had it for breakfast at 9am. It's 2pm and I'm still full and not thinking of lunch. Seems to be working. It mixed very well in a shaker bottle, no lumps. Pleased with this purchase.

Its okay, measurements are wrong
Maybe in the past they used a different scoop? But It says 2 scoop = 54g. I weighed it, and 1 scoop = about 30g OR 35g heaped, so 2 scoops is around 60~70g. but 1 scoop = 50ml of liquid, so I think thats what caused the confusion? Maybe they assumed 1ml=1g? This is true for converting water, but the powder probably has a different density than water, so it doesn’t convert correctly? Idk I CBA to measure each time, so I just do 1.5 scoops and hope for the best, or 1 heaped scoop and call it quits lol This doesn’t taste great with milk. I tried semi-skimmed, full milk, and soy milk. Soy milk was okay, but something about mixing this with milk seems to highlight the “artificial” flavour? IMO this tastes best with just water, and tastes best when its ice cold. I mix it using a milk frother and it blends and foams well (in both water and milk), but its a lot better if you add the powder slowly and blend as you go It still gets plenty thick with just water, but obviously gets even thicker in milk. Id say mixing with water = a milkshake. Mixing with milk = a thick shake. I don’t think this is the worlds best strawberry flavour, but its not the worst and I do enjoy it :)

Excellent! Does what it says on the tub
I'm a 24 year old female who was almost hitting the 15 stone mark, I've never tried anything like this before but have been struggling with my weight for a long time now, and a friend suggested this to me to try out. I've been eating better and exercising 4 times a week for a few months now and lost just over half a stone but felt I needed a little bit of extra help to shed those extra pounds. I've been using this for about a week now and found for me 350ml of water and two scoops from the scoop provided is the ideal consistency for me, as it's thick but not too thick. I use the MyProtein MP MAX Elle Mini Shaker Bottle to mix it; adding cold water first then the powder and shake for 30 seconds to get it all mixed together with no lumps or anything. If you put the powder in first then the water it does get lumpy so definitely put the water in first. I let it rest for 10 minutes in the fridge to thicken up a little more and to cool even further. The taste of the chocolate was a little funny at first but now I found that I actually really enjoy the taste, I don't dread taking it in the morning and for lunch and find it does fill me up until my next due meal. However I am not a fussy eater and can eat most things so I can see some people not enjoying the taste too much but even then I think the taste is still tolerable if you truly want to stick with this. I generally never have big portions of food for breakfast and lunch so I found these shakes do fill me up for a couple of hours with no need to snack except for maybe a few blueberries or grapes here and there. I already drink a lot of water which I think helps subdue cravings also. I don't feel dizzy or that I need to have something sugary, I feel very awake and with plenty of energy. The only side effect I've noticed is flatulence, not the best thing when you have to go places but I believe it'll pass the more I get used to drinking it and don't believe this will happen to everyone. In the week I've used this by replacing my breakfast and lunch with the shake and having a decent meal in the evening I've lost 5lbs and that's without my usual exercise routine that I was unable to do for this week. So with my routine of about 45 minutes of cardio and resistance 4 times a week no doubt I can lose even more with some help from this shake, which is exactly what I need. The price is decent, much cheaper to buy from Amazon than Holland & Barrett and with Amazon prime delivery you can get it the next day. It's not a miracle worker, I believe you definitely have to be disciplined and stick to it but it'll get easier over time. I have recently purchased my second tub, going to try the strawberry one and will likely update this after a few months to see if it truly helps in the long term.

Tasty and thick
So I started the strawberry one today, made with semi skimmed milk which i will be changing to skimmed milk when I've been shopping, wished it up and it tastes lovely, really thick, only used one scoop, its obviously too early to tell if its aiding weigh loss, only time will tell. The only thing I would say is, the tub is far too big, surely could have user a smaller tub as its only half full lol.

Detailed review
I was using a meal replacement shake from a brand that was supposedly the best (Protein World) and found the shakes had poor mix ability, were chalky, oaty, left a bitter aftertaste and eventually made me feel sick. I decided to give this ago. First of all the tub is unnecessarily large making it difficult to store if you are short on space. I ordered the chocolate flavour and I mix it with 400ml of water. It has great mixability and no powdery lumps are left. It doesn't smell strong and if you leave it in the fridge or standing for a few hours it does become a lovely thick very smooth texture. The taste is subtle I would like it to be more chocolatey but it isn't bad by any means. It does have a faint chemically taste but it doesn't really turn me off. It isn't chalky, doesn't make me feel sick or leave an aftertaste which is a huge improvement on some brands I have tried. However, for me I don't find it keeps me full long enough. I have a high protein breakfast and this shake for my lunch. I drink the shake around 12.30 - 1pm. It fills me up and satisfies me at the time. However by 4pm, I am starving and by the time I get home from work at 5.30pm I feel sick with hunger. The first time I was shaking I was so weak. It only fills you up for around 3/4hrs or so. If you are going to use this to replace your lunch perhaps have it as a later breakfast followed by a healthy lunch or if you do use it to replace your lunch you will also need a healthy, high protein snack to keep you going until you have your evening meal. One other thing I would like to note is that I am not sure if this shake agrees with my stomach. Last week I drank it for 2 days and had stomach ache all weekend. I had to leave work. I put it down to a stomach bug as it was going around. I tried the shake again and the stomach ache returned. I am trying to pinpoint if this shake is the cause of it. It's a great price point, and has the best texture I have come across. Taste is pretty good. I would probably get sick of it everyday so I have soup to get some variety. If this shake gets me fuller and more satisfied for longer I would give 5*. I am not sure if I will re-order it depends how I go with this one. If I find one that's more satisfying I'd probably switch. Not a bad shake but could be better. USN please reduce your packaging the huge tubs are not necessary.

Does What It Says
Back in May I had a few health conditions diagnosed and decided to take losing some weight seriously. After a little research I opted for USN to help with that. Since the 26th of May 2025 I have lost 62lbs (28kg). I have 1 shake when I wake up, and another for lunch, then my evening meal as normal. I have not felt the need to snack between meals, and I’ve been making the shakes with water instead of milk. They do make you feel full and they produce quite a thick milkshake if made with the recommended 300mls (I usually thin it out a bit more). The banana flavour is my favourite, strawberry and vanilla are both pretty nice, not a fan of the chocolate, though mixing 1 scoop of chocolate with one scoop of banana made it at least palatable to not waste an entire tub! Would definitely recommend this to anyone that’s trying to lose weight and wants to cut out snacking!

Filling and tasty
Probably one of the best tasting and filling shakes I have had ! Smooth, no lumps or bits, not an overpowering flavour, just right. I found it filling and virtually doubles in volume when mixed in a blender/ bullet mixer. If I am very hungry I do add 2 raw eggs and a small banana, this really makes it thick (can’t taste the eggs). Really impressed will definitely buy again
