I've gradually moved my Sony FX30 over to a V-mount power system, and this battery has become the heart of my entire camera rig. It powers the camera via a dummy battery while also supplying power to accessories such as my Portkeys LH5C monitor, allowing me to shoot for extended periods without worrying about changing batteries. The first thing that impressed me was the build quality. It feels extremely well made, with solid connectors, a robust casing and a clear display that makes it easy to see the remaining battery capacity and power status at a glance. Having that information readily available is much more useful than relying on a few LEDs. The range of outputs makes it incredibly versatile. The 100W USB-C PD output has been particularly useful, not only for camera equipment but also for charging my MacBook Pro, phone and other USB-C devices. It's effectively become a high-capacity portable power bank as well as a V-mount battery. Because it's rated at 99Wh, it's also ideal for travel. It falls within the battery capacity accepted by most airlines for carry-on luggage, so I can take it with me when flying and use it to keep both my camera equipment and personal devices charged while I'm away. My camera setup includes a Sony FX30, SmallRig HawkLock cage, Portkeys LH5C monitor, DJI Focus Pro follow focus and Fujinon MK18-55 and MK50-135 T2.9 cine zooms. Even with that setup, the battery provides excellent runtime and has performed flawlessly throughout months of regular use. I've also been impressed with the convenience of USB-C charging. Being able to recharge the battery without carrying a dedicated V-mount charger makes travelling much easier and keeps my kit simpler. If you're looking for a compact but powerful V-mount battery, this is an excellent investment. It has simplified my camera rig, reduced the number of batteries and chargers I need to carry, and has become one of the most useful pieces of equipment I own, both on shoots and when travelling.

I definitely think this is a great battery for your camera rigs! It just needed a couple of USB ports more. Price: I think it’s priced quite well, it does seem expensive for a battery but if you’re looking at it you’re used to paying top money for lenses or for cameras. I would say that this does become appealing when bought on a sale! Performance: It’s mega, I’ve done upto 5 hours with this thing and it still had probably 30% spare. This is dependent on your use case but I do think for my needs the performance is incredible. Its got a nice screen too which shows how much juice your ports are using, so you can be sure your camera is getting the required wattage. It also shows the battery percentage too. Size: Good size and adds a good bit of weight to the camera rig. Just make sure you’re counterbalancing as mine did become “back heavy” Quality: I’ve had for a couple of months and hasn’t shown any signs of wear or tear. So far it’s holding up! It’s great, I’d recommend it! I just wish it had two usb-c outputs.

Had this for a few years now, and the quality is exceptional. This is used simply to charge phones, but also to keep large professional cameras charged on a long day of use. I would purchase this again.

Bought as a camera battery however it is a great double as a portable power bank when in need.

Small profile, with lots of useful outputs, can be charged by USBC but also on a traditional V-Lock charger. Useful display screen - I’ll be buying more! Glossy design but maybe not the most durable?

From day one, I encountered an issue where the battery wouldn't charge beyond 93%, even after receiving a replacement unit. Pros: Solid Build: The battery's build quality is decent and feels sturdy, ensuring it can endure the rigors of production environments. Runtime: Despite the charging problem, it still delivers a reasonable runtime, which is crucial for extended shoots. Cons: Persistent Charging Issue: The most significant drawback is the persistent charging issue. The battery consistently refuses to reach a full 100% charge, staying stubbornly stuck at 93%. This has been a consistent problem across multiple units, and it's frustrating as it affects the overall usability and reliability of the battery. Inconvenience: Dealing with a battery that never reaches its full potential can be inconvenient, especially when you're reliant on it for extended periods of shooting. It's disappointing to encounter this issue after purchasing what seemed to be a promising V Mount battery. In conclusion, the SMALLRIG 99Wh V Mount Battery VB99 has a substantial issue with its charging, consistently staying at 93% despite replacement units. For the brief time i owned this before it was stolen, i had absolutely no complaints Felt solid and more than sturdy, charge lasted ages, and charged relatively quickly.
