Excellent product, highly recommend. I initially ordered this and received one that didnt work. This happens - some products are just duds. But I got in touch with customer service and they immediately sent me a replacement. I wanted to use it for awhile before leaving a review, and I can say without any doubt that this is one of the best heated waterers you can get for your flock. We've reached 20 degrees F here already and have been below freezing for days, and it's working exceptionally well. Keep in mind it only kicks on when it reaches a certain temperature, so the water doesn't stay "warm", it prevents freezing. 5 stars for the actual product. 5 stars for the company that didnt hesitate to take care of their customer. Absolutely recommend. Its worth the money, just get it.

Works perfectly to keep the water from freezing in winter. If you hang it from a chain, the water will stay cleaner for much longer than if you put it on the ground or a block. The waterer fills from the bottom, and while a little heavy when totally full, it does not leak once in place. Dead simple to use. I've had it for 2 winters now, and it's still working great.

I'm back here to buy a second one of these. I've been through 3 winters with my original and it's still going strong. The handle is too flimsy and it broke this summer so I had to replace it. It is awkward to use until you get the hang of it. It's good enough and it gets my birds through the winter. They need to beef up that handle, otherwise it's good enough.

After many years of use, it became time to replace the well used chicken water fountain. The replacement foundation was placed in to use. The second time the fountain was filled, it was realized, something is different. After filling the fountain, and attaching the base. SPLASH!!! Bath time. The top separated from the bottom and water went everywhere. Okay stuff happens. Refilled the fountain and went about taking care of the animals. The fountain would separate once or twice a week after being filled. It was 28° when the new foundation provided the last outdoor bath. The new foundation has been retired after a few months and deposited in the appropriate receptacle for recycling. The aged was, fortunately, in storage and placed back in service. Time to look for a more reliable heated water fountain for chickens. The following thread is in reference to the original heated water fountain for chickens purchased several years ago. Now that the the heated chicken water fountain has been in use for a little over the years there are a few additional concerns that need to be shared. After a few months of use, the plastic handle broke. After modifying a steel handle from a different fountain the heated chicken fountain was placed back in service while rectifying the original issue. After 18 months, the jacket on the power cord cracked at the point where it enters the unit, eventually exposing bare wires. Repairing the issue with the power cord and adding marine grade heat shrink tubing as a strain relief the unit was placed back in service. In a sheltered area the fountain will keep the water from freezing in single digits tempatures. The original issue is as follows. Just for clarification of perspective, this is being written in the heat of the moment. The fountain is suitable for the application in all aspects but one, the handle/hanger. Trying to grab the handle/hanger when it is laying flat on the top while wearing heavy insulated gloves in single digit tempatures presents some challenges. When the unit is upside down after filling, the handle/hanger will swing down freely for grabbing. Other than having to expose skin to cold temperatures to handle the unit, I like it. One star wa remove due to design issues requiring repairs.

Experience chicken tender here. I've used many waterers, and this is the best warming type I've used. Easy to refill and not too large at 3 gallons. Easy to keep clean too. Works well in cold weather, but haven't used below zero degrees F yet. Chickens like the large drink trough all the way around the tank, less fighting for position. Highly recommend and I will buy this again.

This review is for the heated chicken water with lid and nipples. I've been using this for about 6 months. I wanted to put it through a few real-world experiences before I gave it a review. I've purchased a number of water heaters for the chickens over the years and they never seem to work. This one does! This week the low was -14F with a windchill of -35F and the nipples did not freeze up. I test them every morning and night. The lid did freeze shut but that was ok for my purposes. The heated water is inside an unheated/un-insulated coop. The water stays clean and the chickens don't roost on the lid. The lid has never come off. I don't hang it, it's just sitting on a few pieces of lumber. I love the fact that I can take a gallon of water out during the week when it needs to be topped off and just remove the lid and pour. No water spilling or messing around flipping the waterer over. I give this product a 5 star review. My chickens have been laying consistently, and I think it may be because they always have water to drink not just in the morning and night when I would take out fresh water.

Loved it while it worked but the plastic cracked pretty easily after a month of use and it was no longer usable

I bought and used 3 of these products last year and I have no complaints. Last year was a nasty winter here in Canada and water was always available for the birds. Yes, you have to flip the waterer over to fill - not a big deal to me. It's just like the normal, unheated versions. Yes, the waterer must be level so it doesn't over fill. To me that's just common sense. Use a level platform or hang it. I have all 3 hooked up and in use again this year. Everything is still working as they should. I protected the electrical wire due to the fact we're dealing with birds here. They're dumb and peck at stuff. Don't be dumb and expect a wire to hold up to daily pecking.

I bought this waterer to replace the open heated waterer bowl in my coop. I was having issues with the humidity causing so much ice build up around the door that it would freeze shut and I would be out with a pry bar and hammer at -40 trying to get in to care for my birds. Since getting the covered waterer I have not had this humidity problem. Temperatures have not gotten any colder than -25°C since then so I cannot attest to how well it works below that temp. All of my hens and rooster figured out how the nipples work right away. My 2 cockerels took longer to figure it out. A couple of times I went in and found they had gotten the lid off, but I soon realized it requires pushing down to get a tight fit and haven't had this problem since. It does drip and form ice below the nipples from the birds dripping some water, but not a huge deal for me. The coop actually smells better when temps rise to around the freezing level due to the reduced humidity. It does have a relatively short cord, so plan to install it near the plug in. Overall very happy with the product. UPDATE: I have now been using this waterer for 3 winters and it is still going strong, but has had a couple of issues over the years. It works well at -40, but the lid freezes on at temps below -30. It comes off just fine with the help of a flat head screw driver. After 1 year it stopped working. I brought it inside and discovered that water had managed to find its way into the heating coil compartment below the waterer. I took it apart, got it dried out and used silicone to make the seal water tight. No problem since then. A few months ago a nipple started leaking. I brought it inside and found that it had calcium buildup on the rubber ring on the inside of the nipple. I cleaned it off with some CLR and rinsed it thoroughly. Again, problem solved. I would highly recommend this waterer. It has survived the test of time and has more than enough water for my 25 chickens to last a full day.

I read some reviews about this product being flimsy, so had low expectations. I’ve used it for an entire southern Ontario winter now and I’m very happy with it. I kept it outside the coop to keep moisture levels down and the water never froze, even down to -20. I wouldn’t hang it by the top handle. I sat it on a block. Also, because I read that the bottom separates easily from the top, I always just carried it upside down and then flipped it to put it in place. Never had an issue doing that. The cord is short.

I really think this is a good buy. I live in zone 3 in Quesnel BC and it has gotten to -42 C so far this year and the drinker has not froze up. It is in an insulated coop with NO heat lamp. In -40 weather the coop hovers at -15C and when I change the water over there is no ice build up at all. There is frost forming at the lid which is to be expected. This drinker does not leak which is especially great for cold weather and moisture build up inside the coop. It isnt galvinized so using ACV is not a problem either. I like this so much I am going to buy another one for my Black Copper Maran and Americauna flock I will get in the spring.
