Easy to use
Easy to use. Step by step each chapter building on the ones before.

Just what I wxpected.

Fun & helpful
I like this book as a tool. I use it in conjunction with mobile apps and books (including the French for Dummies edition by a different author). The author’s humor makes it less of a dry read.

Good trouble shooter for beginners
I am learning French from Duolingo. So I need some other resources. This book is a great place to find clear explanations of some starter concepts, pinned down where you can find them. I highly recommend this author's webpages too.

Poorly organized, not great for first-timers.
Poorly laid out. I bought this to help my partner start French (I am several years in) but I was disappointed that it was purportedly structured to be easy to jump around in, but in actuality was just all over the place. This might be good as a refresher course, but not as an actual introduction, like the book says it is. Also, some of the exercises aren’t very clear and I don’t think they’re very useful. I’ve used Lawless French’s website many times, so I was surprised that this wasn’t very good.

Well organized and user friendly
I have been doing French on Duo Lingo for a couple years. Duo helps with vocabulary but doesn't have great explanations and examples for sentence structure, passe compose, or verb conjugation. French Workbook for Dummies is very helpful in all of those areas. I gave a "4" because I think if I hadn't had some vocab already I would have struggled to understand it.

Enlightening
I have been attending French conversation classes for years but sometimes forget what I have been taught so I bought this mainly for revision in the Summer break. It is superb , Laura Lawless explains French grammar in detail which is enlightening and makes everything I have learnt so far more logical. I highly recommend this book for students, beginners or someone like me who needed a fresh look at the rules of French grammar.
