Vonnegut is the best! Short stories makes this book easy to read and start/stop when you need to.

Most of us are familiar with Vonnegut's novels, but we sometimes forget that he was a prolific writer of short stories as well. This collection reveals the full breadth and depth of his genius, but it also presents a side of him we seldom see. In his early years, he wrote a lot of fiction for mainstream magazines, and it was fascinating to see the Vonnegut touch applied to mainstream themes and structures. My only beef with the collection is that the stories are grouped thematically. I would have preferred chronologically, to trace his development as an author. I personally spent some time checking copyright dates so I could read the stories in the order in which he wrote them. I highly recommend this volume to all fans of the master! Its Kurt Vonnegut. Chances are you've heard of him... One of, if not THE, most thought provoking authors of the 21st century. Buy it (or check it out from the library - but read it)!

It's Vonnegut, not really much to say about it, you can't do better (OK, that's arguable, but he is in the top five).

Short published stories are delightful...O'Henry like.

I have yet to read this massive tome. I have read several of his short stories over the years but for the first time all are in one place. I purchased this for my son-in-law. I will now have to get a copy for myself. This is an amazing author who spoke the truth darkly and always made me think about the world around us. Read it and give it to others. Especially your children
