Kaytee Clean & Cozy Paper Bedding for Small Animals, White, 49.2 Liters

After trying several types of small animal bedding, I've found that Kaytee Clean & Cozy White Paper Bedding is one of the best options for our rabbit's enclosure. The paper is extremely soft and fluffy which creates a comfortable nest that my pet loves to burrow into. It absorbs moisture very well, soaking up a lot of liquid and keeping the habitat dry and cleaner longer than wood shavings. The odor control is excellent and long-lasting, making it easy to maintain a fresh enclosure with minimal smell. I also appreciate that this bedding is 99% dust-free and made from safe, high-quality materials so I feel confident about my rabbit's health.

Over a year ago, I started purchasing 2-3 bags a month thru Amazon Subscribe and Save. Generally, the bags are good quality & dust free. However, the previous 2 months were of such poor quality with a dust content so significant, the white bedding was brown… worse was the dust plume & smell. My GP went into sneezing fits, as did I. Initially, I tried mixing with a locally purchased bags. However, the two bags received last month were so bad, I just threw them away & purchased locally. Obviously, bedding is expensive & I had decided to end this subscription. However, with May being a crazy, busy month, I forgot. I was thrilled to discover the 2 bags this month are CLEAN! This is the only brand of white bedding available on Amazon that is soft, absorbent, dye free… & usually dust free… and also a reasonable price. I change my Guinea pig bedding far more than is probably necessary, thus bedding is a huge expense. This product is available in larger size bags at a fairly reasonable price. Given delivery is of high importance for me, I will continue the subscription, re-evaluating on month to month basis.

As someone who's just started raising a hamster again after half a decade of my last one (RIP Yogi, you old fart), I was nervous about buying this bedding as reviews lately have been hit or miss, but hamster owners with experience still recommended this bedding highly so I took the gamble to try to buy it on a good day and got two 50 liter bags (Technically 49.2 but ya know, semantics), since this time I want to give my hamster the best I can get. It came out great, the packaging was secure, the bedding was soft and fluffy after fluffing it up out of the bag, and thankfully no big dust issues have arisen, which is extra great because I am very allergic to dust. I've only sneezed once while setting my new hamster's (I got him almost a week ago as of writing this) cage up but I expected that given the type of bedding this is and it was only when I was trying to unpack it from the bag. My dwarf hamster has been burrowing under it (a good 6 inches of it) constantly and even has a frequent one he goes to in his cage's corner because it holds them better than Carefresh since that brand is denser than this one. Not only that, it doesn't smell, I've not had any odor come out of my new hamster's cage. Maybe it's too soon to tell, but I think it's still a good sign, I doubt it'll be hard to spot clean since hamsters don't make big messes. The only "problem" I have with it is because it is a really expanding fluffy bedding, it is deceiving when you try to fill a 6 inch pan to the near top with it, since the hamster walking around it will flatten it over time due to its lack of density. I recommend adding a different substrate to it to help lessen that, Aspen is great. That's not much of an issue but rather just a fault of what the product is made out of material-wise but it's not too big a deal to be a detriment. Despite the gamble that is seen in the reviews, this bedding is still recommended for hamsters and for good reason. It's soft, fluffy, safe for them to burrow in since it's just paper, great for burrows at that, and although the dustiness has been stated to have risen over the products lifespan, it's also been stated to be not as dusty as Carefresh would be which is why I chose this brand over that one. Lesser of the two evils in that regard, but I say get this for your hamsters nonetheless because the pros outweigh the cons when you get a good bag.

Pros: an affordable option, soft Cons: dusty, doesn't absorb as well Use: if you change bedding every 1 or 2 days, want softer and affordable bedding, can deal with a little more dust and some less absorbency Why: This a poop that tagged along outside of the litterbox (see pic). You can see that there is dust on it. You can also see it in the packaging and when you take it out, dust flies around and is on your hands. It doesn't absorb well bc there are some areas of fur near my mini rex's butt that are a bit tacky/matted from his pee (not terribly but it's there nonetheless). It's from this bedding bc the other brand that I also use that is more expensive does not do this. I wouldn't recommend using this bedding longer than 2 days max if you're using it for a bunny due to the absorbency issue. I change his litter daily regardless and wouldn't recommend you leave the same bedding for more than a few days for their sanitation/cleanliness and in general. It's overall a reasonable product and I still purchase this as a backup or to mix in with other bedding. I still recommend and purchase this product but give this rating due to the issues above.

This stuff expands quite a bit, and doesn’t end up all over the floor outside the guinea pig’s enclosure. Change it out once a week though, as it will smell like petting zoo if you wait too long.

La calidad es excelente: es suave, libre de polvo y muy absorbente, lo que mantiene la jaula limpia y sin olores por más tiempo. Otra gran ventaja es que viene en mucha cantidad, por lo que dura bastante y tiene una muy buena relación calidad-precio. He probado otros sustratos antes, pero este sin duda es el mejor en términos de comodidad y limpieza para mis mascotas. Si buscas un sustrato seguro, cómodo y eficiente, este es la mejor opción. Totalmente recomendable.

Affordable and easy to use bedding

Very low quality product, dusty and stinks

I use this bedding for my hedgehog and it’s been great. It’s super soft, absorbs really well, and keeps his enclosure dry and comfortable. The white color makes it easy to spot-clean, and it controls odor better than any other bedding I’ve tried. The only minor downside is that the white shows mess quickly, so I end up changing it a bit more often—but honestly that just keeps everything fresher. Overall, it’s safe, comfy, and perfect for a hedgie habitat.
