Excellent Results: The everything kit for causual users/Light business use.
I have made way to many Ethernet cables over the last 10+ years, but none recently until a few days ago, when I used this kit for the first time. The results and ease of use exceed my hopes - as making cables, or just replacing the connectors on current cable is not my favorite task in all of networking. 1. The supplies (cable ends/hoods) are well made, and fulfilled their roles perfectly. I have used open ended pass through connectors before, and they make everything so very much easier. The included ones are very well made, and worked perfectly the first time, in each case I used them. If I can, I'll be recording new supplies of these exact connectors and hoods from THIS same supplier. 2. The included cable tester is basic, no fluff, but worked perfectly to validate the continuity and proper ordering of the wires in each end. This is all that's needed in most situations, and perfectly met the goals. If you need a fancier more thorough test meter, get one, but for most situations, this is all that's needed, and perfectly compliments the rest of this kit. 3. The crimp/cutter tool worked perfectly (I followed the directions!), and produced perfect results in each use. (If you find the stripper isn't tight enough for your cable, rotate the cable slightly while in the cutter.) The included instructions are.... not all they could be. If you have done this work before, they will be adequate containing both A & B wiring standards, and decipherable use instructions. If you have never done this work before, be patient with yourself - these instructions are not 'hand holding' enough for total novice. Note to the seller: Do you sell additional supplies (Identical connectors/hoods) separately? Casual users don't need 100's at a time, and what you provide in this kit should last a while for the casual user. Would I buy this kit again/recommend it? 100% YES.

All in one tool that works great
There are several items as part of this package. I will review them one at a time. 1. Crimpers pros are the multifunction all in one tool. first there are wire cutters and are very sharp and precisely cut the CAT5/5e. The cutters are not meant to cut heavy gauge wire. Next there are two wire strippers, one for round cable and one for flat cable. I can't speak to the flat wire stripper because I don't use flat cables but the round CAT5/5e stripper worked perfectly without knicking any of the inside wires. Although I would warn that the round cables can become more oval when handling but just a quick squeeze to reshape the cable before using the strippers works perfectly. Finally you have the actually crimping function. I only used the RJ45 8P8C but there are RJ11 6P and 4P crimps also. The RJ45 connector slid in easy and hit the stopper without pushing through too far. A firm squeeze on the handles crimped the connector. The handles are just long enough to provide good leverage without using two hands to squeeze. The one con for the crimps are it doesn't have a ratcheting mechanism or a final click when the crimp is complete. But as long as you perform a full closure of the handles the crimp comes out great everytime. 2. Testers pros are the ease of use and versatility to use with RJ45 8P and RJ11 6P connectors. The testers attach together which is great when testing a short patch cable and can be reverse attached to keep the test ports on the same side. I used these between three floors without the need to constantly run up and down stairs to check connections. I was not able to find any cons with the testers. 3. Stand alone wire stripper - There's not much to these but it does work well. There are several different stripper positions for different sized cables. It is very easy to slide the cable into a smaller position and knick all the inside wires. Also you don't want to rotate the strippers around the wire too many times because it will dig in and knick the inside wires. As a bonus on the stand alone strippers is a punch down tool for seating the twisted pairs into a jack assembly. The only con i found with the stand alone stripper is it's not very heavy duty but to be honest I will use the wire stripper on the crimpers most of the time. Overall at this price this package is a very good deal and would be a good addition to a tool set. One last mention is this would not hold up well for everyday professional use but as occasional use this will hold up great.

Works, But Takes More Effort Than Expected
I purchased this kit to make Ethernet cables for a few networking projects, and while it does get the job done, it wasn't as easy to use as I had hoped. The included tools, tester, connectors, and boots make for a complete package, which is nice for someone getting started. My biggest complaint is that crimping solid copper wire requires more effort than expected. Getting the wires properly seated and crimped consistently took some patience, and I found the tool wasn't as smooth or effortless as other crimpers I've used in the past. The pass-through connectors are helpful for verifying wire order before crimping, and the cable tester worked as expected. Once the cables were finished, they performed properly, but the process was more frustrating than it needed to be. Overall, the kit offers decent value and includes everything needed to make cables, but if you're working primarily with solid copper Ethernet cable, be prepared for a bit of a learning curve and some extra effort during assembly.

Everything You Need for Network Cable Work
This kit has everything you need to work with ethernet cables, and I mean everything. If you're someone who does any kind of networking work, whether professionally or just around the house, this is one of those purchases that'll make your life so much easier. The crimping tool itself is really well-made. It's got a solid feel to it – not flimsy or cheap like some of the budget options out there. The pass-through design is a game changer if you've never used one before. Being able to see the wires go through the connector means you can verify everything's in the right order before you crimp, which saves you from wasting connectors and having to redo cables. That feature alone makes this worth it. What really sets this kit apart is that it works with Cat5, Cat6, and Cat7 cables. That versatility means you're covered no matter what kind of cable you're working with. The tool handles all of them smoothly without any issues. The crimping action is clean and consistent – you get a good, secure connection every time. The kit comes with a bunch of useful extras too. You get the cable tester, which is super handy for making sure your cables are working properly before you run them through walls or ceilings. There's nothing worse than finishing a cable run only to find out there's a problem with the termination. The tester takes all the guesswork out of it. Just plug both ends in and the lights tell you immediately if everything's wired correctly. They also include connectors, which is great for getting started right away. The pass-through connectors that come with it work perfectly with the crimper. Having those included means you can start using the kit immediately without having to order anything else separately. It's nice when a kit actually includes what you need to get going. The wire stripper and cutting tool are quality pieces too. The stripper is adjustable and doesn't damage the internal wires when you're removing the jacket, which is important for maintaining signal quality. The cuts are clean and precise. These aren't just throwaway tools they included to round out the kit – they're actually useful and well-made. Storage is handled with a decent carrying case. Everything fits in there neatly, and it keeps all the pieces organized so you're not hunting around for different parts. If you're taking this to different job sites or just want to keep your tools organized, the case does its job well. The quality of the crimps you get with this tool is really impressive. They're tight and secure without being overdone. I haven't had any issues with cables coming loose or connections failing. When you crimp a cable with this tool, you can be confident it's going to work and keep working. For anyone who needs to make custom length ethernet cables or do any kind of network installation work, this kit is an excellent value. You're getting professional-quality tools for a reasonable price. It's got everything you need in one package, and all of it works well together. The pass-through design, the cable tester, the quality of the crimper itself – it all adds up to a kit that makes cable work straightforward and reliable. I'm really happy with this purchase. It's made working with network cables much easier and more efficient. If you're in the market for a crimping kit, this one definitely delivers.

Pleasantly surprised with how well this works!
I have not created a large number of cable ends but have done about 8 connectors so far and all of them have worked perfectly and all of the tools did what they were supposed to. I don't have a lot of background with creating these cables but used all of the tools and here is what I thought of each: 1. The yellow cable stripping tool - Works well! Other reviews made me assume this was garbage but I was happy with it. I only used this to cut the outer vinyl jacket on my cables and it worked fine for this purpose. While it doesn't seem like a super durable tool, it's also not a tool that I truly needed. Even though I didn't need it, it does make the process easier and faster. If I were doing hundreds of these cable ends, it would be very valuable! 2. The crimping tool - Works very well! I have used an IDEAL brand crimper before and it worked similarly but was definitely a higher quality build. For my purposes, this doesn't matter. If my livelihood depended on making ethernet cables, I would get a more expensive model. I get the impression that lower quality crimpers will wear in the teeth that push in the connectors but for light usage, this is fine. 3. Cable end connectors - Worked well for all of the cables I created. No issues so far and I don't expect any. The cables seem strongly retained and the individual wires are properly separated etc. 4. Cable tester - This is the weakest link in the package. I suppose it is of some value but probably not much. I suppose that if you cross linked some of the wires it would show that. The tool will not tell you whether the cable is of good quality or what speed it will maintain etc. This doesn't detract from the tool or the value for the money but I would certainly have been happy to pay one or more dollars less and not get this tool. Overall, I bought this because I realized that I had installed cables that could not achieve gigabit speed. Those cables were Cat 5e and there isn't a clear explanation why they wouldn't reach gigabit but some other cable I had available would. After using this tool to replace those cables in my house, I now have gigabit ethernet everywhere. So, mission accomplished!

Easy to figure out Bought for RJ45 (Cat5E, Cat6) Home Improvement
TL;DR This item is sturdy, cheap and complete, no issues at all, for my purpose 1 YouTube vid and a $15 gigabit switch were all I needed besides this item to finish my job, mind you I've never altered a cable in my life. As a disclaimer, I bought this for the sole purpose of connecting my own home internet connection because the home builders did not and neither did my internet company. Essentially, I bought the house with ethernet connections in the wall which I could not use since AT&T has very cheap fiber and since we have no central network box/cabinet in the closet all the ethernet cables go to the attic and just hang there disconnected, while the fiber modem is just does it's own thing in my room. We did not want to bother with routing more holes in our walls to connect the fiber setup into the attic and also wanted all the connections to be in line of sight so we opted for a different solution: In my room is an ethernet port, I connected the modem into the ethernet port. Then, using this kit, I crimped all the ethernet cables (rj45 cat6), then connected them to the gigabit switch (we have a plug upstairs, need one for the switch). Now we have ethernet throughout the whole house. (wherever there is a port) Now that my use case is out of the way, on to the review: The kit was incredibly easy to handle, a quick video was all I needed to get it going, I was incredibly careful about the order of the cat6 colored cables because I have never done it before so I didn't want to mess up (checked the order every step of the way at least three times). There were no issues at all and now I have excess connectors and tools for odd jobs my family might need me for. If you think you might be getting less quality I cannot speak for that because I was not unlucky enough to get a bad batch, but from my experience with this product, it deserves a solid 5 stars and I would give 6 if I could because it simply was so cheap. Hope I provided a good perspective, please click the "Helpful" button if you think I was.

Exactly what I needed. Saved a service call from the cable company.
I haven't used the crimpers. I really only wanted the cable tester, but for the price vs other products why not get the crimper for later use too? I like so many have been working from home during COVID. My kids are also home from school. There were many times I would be seeing a patient over telemedicine and the browser would crash. I finally tracked that down to a bad stick of RAM. Replaced that and the browser crashes stopped, but my internet just wasn't fast enough to chart, have video conference, and have the kids doing all kinds of things. I upgraded, but was still only getting 100mbits at my wired desktop. After many calls to the cable company and a lot of trying this and trying that, I realized that my old Netgear router only had 100mbit ethernet ports on it. So I did my research and purchased a Ubiquiti gigabit router. See a separate review for that amazing piece of kit. Problem solved, right? Wrong. I would get gigabit speeds for a few minutes then it would drop back down to fast ethernet. The day this product came, I put batteries in it, tested a couple patch cables so I knew they were good, then tested the cable run from my office to the closet with all the networking equipment in it. Turns out I had wired the wall jack in the office quite wrong. Fixed that with a little Googling. Then tested again. #8 wire wasn't working. Went to the other end and fixed that. Then, #6 wire wasn't working. (Most likely from manipulating the jack to fix #8 wire.) Fixed that. And.... viola!! I now get full internet speed in my office. The kids are pretty much still limited to 100mbits as their devices are all wifi and the WAPs tap out at that speed I believe, but I have had no further slow downs while working. If you do your own network cabling, this is an inexpensive tool that does what it is supposed to, and will alleviate a lot of headaches and hair pulling. As I said, I haven't used the crimpers yet, but they have a good heft to them. They feel quality, which was surprising at the price point. I expect them to do their job just fine when the time comes. Best part, I didn't have to watch for the cable guy to come between noon and four, to interrupt my work and eventually tell me the problem was my poor wiring.

Fantastic crimper.
What a great little crimper. I had to watch the video in the description because I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to open it on my own. I had a client ask me to run an ethernet wire in their basement which I have not been asked to do in probably 7-8 years. So I went to go grab my crimpers and my fittings and my testers and the fittings and the RG6 coax cable crimpers were there but my RJ45 and rj11 crimpers were gone you know the old school classic type and everybody had. So, I saw these, the high stsr rsting and I was like well let's give it a try. Plus sometimes you can't find a tool until you buy another tool. Well, once I watched the video and figured out how to open these things, i wa very pkeased. This is the most amazing RJ45 cripper tool I could ever imagine using. They literally thought of everything, it's compact, it feels like it's built well. The tester that comes with the kit seems to work just fine. It's nice to know that I can still wire an RJ45 connector on two ends of a wire correctly the first time after however long it's been. The tester feels extremely light and cheap so who knows how long it would last if it was used on a daily, I can't really speak for that. I don't really have high hopes for it, but I'm old and judgy. And things are purposely made not to last nowadays.. I still have a tester from 20 years ago that was built like an ox. And it still works. But I am truly amazed of these crimpers, they literally thought of a great design, and it has color coding stickers on the side of it and if you're around my age make sure you have your readers on so you can see these little stickers.
