This is an impressive speaker! Incredibly powerful (for the size of the speaker the base power is unreal!). Not only powerful but also the quality of the sound is crisp and impressively clear. One might say it is not cheap, but I believe it is absolutely value for money. Gone are the days of having to purchase a massive hi-fi system, this is an amazing speaker!

I gave this speaker five stars because of the sound it produces and the build quality of the speaker itself. The description states that this speaker is waterproof, but I have not tested that and hopefully I won't have to. I generally do not give an item five stars, but this product is exceptional. It has a very nice bass and treble tone mix, and when turned up to a high volume, it does not produce any buzzing or static or any indication that it is too much power for the speaker to handle. It still has a very nice balance and perfect mix of treble and bass to hear all the instruments and vocals of not only music but also videos that have a narrator talking and the sound is very clean. I downloaded the JBL Connect App from Google Play Store which allows you to easily connect the speaker to your phone (although the app download is not necessary because the speaker performs very well without the app and connects easily to your phone without using the app anyway), rename it to whatever you wish to call it, update the software, and use a mixer on it if you wish to do that (I don't generally use the mixer so I just allow the speaker software pre-amp to handle the mix for me and it does a very clean job of it). I must add that this product is pretty heavy just like the reviews stated. It's heavy enough that the plastic hinges on the strap that came with the case broke the very first time I used it (this wasn't a big issue for me because I had another padded, well-built, sturdy strap with metal hinges from a guitar case that I purchased a long time ago that I ended up using on this speaker case after throwing the original one that came with the case away). But I almost dropped the speaker because the hinges broke (and they broke on both ends of the strap - luckily, I was quick enough to catch it before it hit the ground - and it was in the case, so I'm not sure if it would have gotten damaged - but at the price I paid, $139.00 for the speaker with the case included, I sure am glad it didn't fall). And, of course, the case is probably not manufactured by JBL, so it's not particularly a design flaw on their part but rather a reflection of poor quality on whoever makes the case rather than the Bluetooth speaker itself. But I couldn't help think to myself, "Why would the manufacturers of this product (the case) include a strap that has plastic snap-on hinges knowing how heavy the product is that it will contain?" (Like I mentioned before, I'm not sure who manufactured the case, so this did not affect my rating on the speaker itself - but they need to change the design of the plastic hinges and put metal hinges on the strap). The power cord that comes with the speaker is not a USB C as I expected. I was pleasantly surprised that it has a two-prong rounded socket connection that goes to the speaker on one end and a three-prong wall socket plug on the other end on a sturdy electrical cord. The speaker was already charged and ready for use when I received it. I used it for a few hours before I actually plugged the speaker into an outlet. It gave me no indication that it was going to die anytime soon so I'm not sure how much of a charge it had initially. And it seems to last a pretty long time after I took the charging cord off although I didn't actually time it and it still has not given an indication that it's running low on battery. I have used it to listen to a wide variety of music (everything from classical music to heavy metal, Rap, and R & B genres) and for a few YouTube videos like news, and videos that have a narrator talking, but I plan to use it for sound to watch movies since it seems to do pretty well on the YouTube videos. Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality of this speaker. I have a JBL Charge 5 that I was pretty impressed with and this speaker easily out-performs the JBL Charge 5 by far. The Boombox 3 has way better bass and volume. I will try and update this review as I use the speaker more and will let you know if I find any flaws with the speaker itself but so far I can't find anything negative to say about it. Mike V.
