Works great, just smells very strong
This stuff works good and is coming out satin, as advertised. The smell is stronger than any clearcoat I have used. This is only the second kind of spray lacquer I have used. Use this outdoors or in an area away from you for a few hours after spraying. It smells a lot like you are sitting in a nail salon, even if you spray it outdoors, and bring the sprayed product inside shortly after. It takes a couple of hours for the smell to calm down, so leave it away from you for that long before bringing the sprayed product into an area where you will be hanging out. It dries fairly fast, but whatever you spray it with will take about 3-4 days to completely stop smelling like nail polish. I don't want to outright mention another brand...but there is one that starts with a Z and it has low odor and faster dry time. Only problem with that brand is, it comes out like semi-gloss and the nozzle gets clogged easily. I purchased Watco because I wanted a satin finish for certain projects, and I love their food-grade products.

Watco lacquer
This product woks really good on my Maple wood plaques laser engravings, it pulls out the lettering real nice. Does not have a strong smell and it dries pretty quick.

Mixed results
I don't know if I just got a bad can or what. Sprayed fine, put on 4 medium coats allowing an hour dry time between each coat. The next day the guitar I put it on developed deep cracking all over, really looks bad. I used this brand many times on other guitars with great results but this time it was a disaster. This did happen once before on another guitar,, I don"t know why. I use the same technique each time, usually with good results. I have over 30 years experience profesionally refinishing automobiles so I sort of know what I'm doing.

Gorgeous finish…
I constructed a book box of basswood, stained it with a Spanish Oak product, rubbed it to the hue I wanted, and then gave it three light coats of the Watco lacquer finish. Absolutely gorgeous finish…!

Very useful, very stinky
This lacquer worked perfectly! But make sure to use it in a well ventilated area, and it takes a while to dry. I did not use it in the most ventilated area and the smell gave me quite a headache. 😂

Easy to put on
I was looking for a spray, but this was on sale so tried this instead. Its actually pretty easy to brush on, and couldnt see any brush marks after drying. Good stuff.

Best lacquer spray available
I’m not sure what the story is behind the other lacquer brands, I’ve seen prices all the way up to $160 for a single can. Who orders that? I’ve used Watco lacquer spray for years, the quality is among the very best, the spray is fine and even and smooth. And the price is comparable to what I would pay at a retail building supply, if they carry it. I can’t think of any reason to order any other brand.
