Thermalright Assassin X120 Refined SE ARGB CPU Air Cooler, 4 Heatpipes, TL-C12C-S PWM Fan, for AMD AM4/AM5 Intel 1700/1150/1151/1200 (AX120 R SE ARGB)

Cheap isn’t always cheerful especially with PC parts so if you’re skeptical like me on if this cooler is upto the job or not - It is! *Updates at the bottom* After reading/watching a myriad of reviews online I took the plunge not expecting much from a single fan air cooler after having my AiO for three years. I needed something robust yet cheap if possible to cool my 5700X. Packaging does the job, all protected by that typical foam packaging. Heatsink and fan, little baggies labelled with each Mobo type for the connectors. Thermal paste included. Firstly, installation is smooth and simple, instructions are typically basic but the pictures do a good job of explaining what to do for Intel and AMD. Be aware you may want to connect the fans pin connector before installing the heatsink but it’s a pain free process that took me all of about twenty minutes. The thing I like about this cooler is the ability to position your fan slightly higher thanks to the metal clips that grip the heatsink, this allows you to get some critical space between ram. Performance wise this things an absolute monster. I’m currently in the process of undervolting my 5700x and at my current settings this thing didn’t budge past 56C on prime95 and that’s without an exhaust fan currently in my PC. My AIO even when it worked would peak 58/60C dependant on ambient temps! So using the thermal paste included I loaded up CSGO first, then Modern Warfare 2. Now I didn’t play for a prolonged period so I will update this review as time goes on, but in my brief hour testing session my CPU capped out at 60C max. No curve adjustment, fans are barely audible over sound from monitor, a faint ‘hum’ tops. Again this is without an exhaust fan so currently my PC is circling warm air. Absolutely amazed with the results and for the price I cannot fault this product one bit. Don’t hesitate. Update as of Feb 21st 2023 - I haven’t gotten around to undervolting any further at present but am extremely happy to update that even with the likes of Red Dead Redemption or World of Warcraft Dragonflight (1080&1440p) this fan won’t let my 5700x budge over 64 degrees even with prolonged use!

Thermalright Assassin X 120R se ARGB heatsink is an exceptional heatsink for the price , very easy to install and I would highly recommend to anyone on a budget

I was on the hunt for a new CPU cooler for my AM5 setup. I didn't want to spend a fortune, but I also didn't want my shiny new Ryzen chip to be sweating buckets. After some digging, the Thermalright Assassin X120 kept popping up, and I figured, "Why not give it a shot?" Good decision. Even during intense gaming sessions or when I'm pushing some heavier loads, my CPU stays remarkably chill. We're talking great temps, well within comfortable limits, and without hitting thermal throttle. The 4 heatpipes really do their job, and it's super effective – honestly, I'm still a bit surprised by how well it performs for what it is!

Brilliant cpu cooler for the price you cant beat it

Massive difference over the stock cooler. Running a 5600 overclocked (4.8GHz under load), temps rarely get over 60c core and 70c for the package temp, and that's with all fans (8 of them including this one) set to standard rather than turbo or full speed. If I do set fan speed to turbo, temps come down to 50c and 60c respectively under load, but that's too noisy for my liking. One thing to note is this thing is a big, make sure you check your case is big enough before buying. I did have my GPU set horizontally, but sadly it won't fit with this cooler, so I've had to set it back to standard mount, which is a shame. ARGB works well, unfortunately, the cable only has a female connection, with no male output to continue the daisy-chain, managed to get around that issue with a splitter cable brought through Amazon, would have been nice if a passthrough was provided though. All-in-all for the price of £15, this item is tremendous value with all of the classic Thermalright performance.

Installed on an MSI Gaming Edge Wifi mobo in an MSI Mag Forge 100R on top of a Ryzen 7 3700X (no overclock). Installation was painless and quick, the included thermal paste is fine, and the hardware all fits together nicely. Temps now sitting 45 at idle and 75 at extreme load. For a cooler that cost less than £20, I really can't fault it.

I haven't actually used it yet but looks real good.

I was going to finally put my build together to find this product does NOT come with mounting bracket or thermal paste but the pictures clearly misleads to you to think it should come with a mounting bracket and thermal paste. Dissapointing!!
