My firsy bow. Seems nice. Thought it was broken until my teacher told me about rosin. Love the sound I get from it

I am a professional violinist. I’ve played since I was five years old. I teach violin. I have purchased two of these bows now. They are weighted well. I highly recommend this bow.

First of all, I'm very much a beginner on stringed instruments, so take this with a grain of salt. I received this bow in good condition and it looks fantastic. My roommate also plays violin so I can compare it with her old, German wooden bow. As far as sound and I feel they are comparable enough. My mostly untrained ear (I play other musical instruments but just began violin) can't hear much difference. For beginner purposes, the main difference is the weight of the bows. This bow is heavier overall. On top of that, the way the weight is distributed makes it little clumsier. When I play the tip feels like it's swinging around compared to my roommate's bow, which feels more balanced. The difference is minute, of course, but bear in mind that you're constantly making precise movements as you play, so I would guess most any beginner would feel it. But, though the difference is noticeable, this bow is more than suitable to learn on for beginners or as a sturdy backup. It's not going to impede anyone's learning if they are set on getting good at violin, and it will probably work for experienced players that need an indestructable backup bow. For the price, I like that I can learn on it for a year or so (I can already tell I will want to upgrade in the future), and I don't have to worry about loosening the strings when I put it away, or overtightening it when I play. Even after I upgrade my bow, I will be happy I still have this inexpensive one as a backup, and if this is all someone can afford at the moment then it definitely wouldn't be a waste of money.

Love this bow! Have used this bow with no trouble for many years now! I’m a professional violinist and I prefer it to my expensive bow. Recommend it to my students and friends!
