World of Reading Marvel: Meet the Super Heroes!-Pre-Level 1 Boxed Set

I have a 2 1/2 year-old who loves superheroes. This comes with 12 books so he is always carrying one around which is great! There’s one in every room of the house it seems like which is convenient for him that makes me happy because I love that he loves books. He loves these and each book is a different superhero so he’s learning about them each as well.

Great for beginning readers!

My son is 4 and started bringing home books to read from preschool over the last few months. He was very excited about reading at first but began to get frustrated over time. I thought if I could find some books about things he was interested in (huge Marvel fan) he would get excited again. These books are wonderful! There are definitely occasional words that aren't really beginner reading words, and terms and names a child wouldn't understand well if they haven't watched any Marvel movies, but it doesn't hurt to give it a try and expand their vocabulary even further! Really happy with this purchase.

The pictures in these are great. Although the sentences are very short, I do not think these should be the first reader books you get. They're doable once you have some basics down (we're on the 4th set of Bob books) and they're not discouragingly long. Some of the words are more difficult like: special, together, galaxy, etc. My son was still able to get some of these words by context (he's a super hero fan and we read a lot). My favorite part of these books is that when they came, my son insisted on reading them right away and although he struggled a bit initially he kept at it and can now read them all. I regularly scour the library and have checked out many first readers, but nothing has been as motivating as this. He feels like he's reading "real" books now.

I’m giving these 5 stars purely because my 2 year old wants me to read every one of these all day every day. He’s obsessed with superhero’s and loves these short books. I don’t know if these are early reader books, since the sentences are not as simple and the vocabulary is not basic…but entertainment value is spot on. I wouldn’t recommend for an early/beginner reader to practice with.

I was teaching a beginning reader how to read. He hated to read the stories in the phonics program I was using. It was like pulling teeth to get him to read them. He loved Marvel characters and talked about them all the time. I found these books and bought them. He loved reading them over and over and over again. That repeated reading helped him to not only learn to read the words in these books, but he also learned to recognize those same words in other contexts. I continued with the instruction from the phonics program but allowed him to read one or more of these books at the end of each lesson. They were huge motivators! Reading them gave him the confidence that he could read! We read these books until he could read them at the independent level, then moved on to another series at a higher reading level. My boys 1 & 5 love these books!! As expected. My 5 yr old loves reading these to his little brother. There are enough sight words so he can read majority on his own but there are more tough words which he needs help with but I like it so that he recognizes harder words...or memorizes them. Whatever! But now he can read them all by himself.

This is a fun set for early readers. My emerging reader was able to figure out and sound out many of the words on his own, gaining confidence, and the familiar characters kept him engaged and made him want to read more. He took the set to school with him to read during free time and reading breaks, and many of his friends asked to borrow the books to read as well.

My 3y old son loves these 12 mini books in a lovely carry case. A nice introduction to some of marvel's characters. Each one is short and sweet. Simple lines with repetition. Brilliant for little superhero fans learning to read. Would definitely recommend.

La idea de enseñar inglés a los niños a través de sus materias favoritas es genial. El problema con este tipo de libros es que también le enseñarás a los niños muchas palabras que no necesitarán o que son demasiado difíciles. Este es un buen regalo, pero está un poco más allá de su libro pedagógico.

She LOVES IT! There are so many books, 12 in total and the box is very well built. As a teacher and parent I think the reading level is perfect and the theme is obviously a great motivator. We read the lm together and it is helping to build her sight words very quickly. A very good investment of money and anything that helps get children off the screen is a good buy! Can’t wait to see more of the other marvel characters like Elektra!
