Review: Stop treating symptoms - understand & attack the root causes of mid-life complaints - This insightful book by Dr. Labbe addresses health problems and complaints common to women experiencing mid-life transitions (including many symptoms practitioners overlook or simply write-off as a right-of-passage). Her unique approach of "functional medicine" traces symptoms like chronic fatigue, hot flashes, memory loss, and weight gain to the root of the problem. She addresses why these things are happening and how to treat the overall problem (often without piles of prescriptions). Readers will have a better understanding of how the body is a complex and intertwined ecosystem and how the ultimate goal is to balance these systems naturally for optimal health and well-being. Review: great read! - love what she has to say. thinking of making an appointment!. some of the text is repeated in several chapters and i thought the book could have been more concise. that is the only reason why i did not give it 5 stars.

Nothing New
I was jazzed to see these two topics together in a book! However, I was disappointed in that there was nothing new in the material when compared to other books on Hashimotos. So if you have read other books like Root Cause, etc., I wouldn't recommend this one.

Amazing insight and inspirational for all women!
The new diet fad is most definitely gluten free; however, Joni Labbe explains in detail why it is logical and extremely important for one's health. I absolutely loved reading this book! I could not put it down until I was finished. I may not be in my mid-life, so to speak, but I felt like I was reading my own personal health history in this book. So much of the questions that I have asked multiple physicians for years following my two pregnancies have finally been answered. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion; however, in return, I have gained so much more knowledge than I could have imagined. I am thrilled to have been able to read this book as it goes in to depth on various autoimmune diseases and how to treat them with dietary changes. The book also focuses on the cause of fatigue, brain fog, insulin resistance, menopause, peri menopause, anxiety and depression, memory difficulties, and so much more. Joni Labbe is very positive and upbeat with her writing and not derogatory at all. A lot of women who are suffering from these ailments find themselves in a total rut and have lost a lot of hope, but Miss Labbe has sparked that hope of wellness through empowerment and knowledge. A theme that is consistently repeated is "You are not lazy, crazy, or finished." This theme will be sure to grab the attention of many readers and allow them to digest the information further. I would suggest that all women read this book, and men also for that matter. Sometimes the men in our lives do not understand how a woman can change so drastically with her health following major life events. This could certainly be enlightening for the entire family, and I would also believe that some of the ideas expressed in this book would be beneficial for both men and women. I am currently following some of the advice outlined in Joni Labbe's "Why is Mid-life Mooching Your Mojo? Solutions to Banish Fuzziness and Fatigue Forever!" and I am quite happy to report that I have seen significant changes within the first week. I look forward to reading more from Joni Labbe and I am excited to join the mojo girlfriends online community. I have received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book has been amazing! I felt like I was reading my own ...
This book has been amazing! I felt like I was reading my own story. Dr. Joni Labbe has written an invaluable resource that can help so many people. While it was primarily written for women nearing or in menopause, I feel like it could help almost anyone that has suffered and hasn't found answers from their primary care physicians. I have been struggling with almost every symptom Dr. Labbe mentioned in her book, with no answers coming from my traditional doctor. I am an avid reader when it comes to health and nontraditional treatments and what I really appreciated with this book is that it was easy to read and understand and also contained humor which made reading it a lot of fun, rather than just a source of information. Not only does this book give great insight into what could be going on in the body, but also includes laboratories that will run the tests so that the patient will know for sure what is going on. Many traditional doctors have been taught to prescribe medications to alleviate symptoms. However, Dr. Labbe takes on a more functional approach where she encourages the reader to do the lab work and figure out what is going on in the body that is causing the symptoms and correcting that, rather than just hiding the symptom. She also states that problems with many of the ranges in lab work only are looked into when the result is outside of the range, which then indicates disease, rather than finding an issue and solving the problem before it reaches that state. All I can say is that this book has been incredible. It contains so much information, yet presents itself in a way that most people can easily understand. I highly recommend this book to everyone who has ever suffered and have been told that it's all in their head or that they are perfectly healthy when they know deep-down that something is not right. This allows the reader to take their health and their life in their own hands and not be at the mercy of their doctor. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Stop listening to the naysayer, and tell your story!
It is true that because menopause is only considered a woman’s issue that it is now deemed important enough/not a priority. Women tend to be dismissed by family, friends, co-workers, and doctors when it comes to the symptoms of menopause. I recently saw a famous actress on a television talk show say how she never complains about menopause. The TV talk show host was in agreement with the actress stating how she refuses to complain too. This is a talk show that millions of Americans watch every day. Even though we are in the 21st century, women are still being told not to complain about their ailments. The message that is conveyed is that another generation of women should grin and bear it. Sometimes it seems as if one day you are fine and the next day everything has changed. Or you notice that your immune system is weakening little by little. Or chronic fatigue and other symptoms are now a part of your daily life. In Chapter 11, “Building Your Environment: Reducing Exposure to External Toxins” the author notes that environmental toxins contribute to health risks. “Electrosmog” has been known to cause fatigue, back pain, memory loss among other symptoms. While toxic chemicals can lead to the following: hormonal imbalance, brain diseases, breast cancer, and reproductive organ cancers. It is also important to take notice of what you eat! This can’t be overstated. I used to eat lots of junk food and was addicted to soda. Now I can’t stand fast food and won’t go near soda. It is amazing how much better I feel and how my taste buds are no longer dull. This is a book that teaches women how to take better care of themselves and not to ignore how they feel. It is time women put themselves first! I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Ladies, Get Ready To Reclaim Your Mojo!!
From the first page to the last, Dr. Joni had me engrossed in this fabulous book. I found myself highlighting, taking notes, and repeatedly saying, "Ah ha! That sounds exactly like what's happening to me!! I'm not crazy!" The way she explains the symptoms, causes, and solutions for autoimmune and hormonal disorders in this guide, makes it easy for anyone to get informed and get help to feel better now. Getting to the root causes, not just treating the symptoms, is her goal here and she scores a touchdown I think. I'm was amazed to learn how many women just trudge through menopause silently because they are told, " that's just the way it always has been and always will be". Not any more!! Dr. Labbe has put great effort to give us all the information available to help ourselves through healthy nutrition and exercise as well as getting the right tests (conveniently listed in the back of the book) done at the doctors to verify the root of the issues. There are several helpful resources listed at the end of the book to she recommends to readers that I will definitely check out too. As Dr. Joni states, "This Mojo lifestyle is a marathon, not a sprint." and, "The journey to good health isn't a straight slope upward, but a gentle trend toward improvement, with peaks and valleys along the way." The one line that summed it up and got me to take action is, "when the pain of the problem outweighs the pain of the solution, change comes more easily". I am ready and willing to take this journey towards a transformed life, and the best part is I'm not doing it alone!! Thank you so very much much Dr. Joni for empowering me with the knowledge and resources to get my Mojo back!! I'm definitely recommending this wonderful book to all the women in my life. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
