Checkered Chef Salad Chopper Tool, Mezzaluna Knife Stainless Steel Vegetable Rocker

Honestly it's a very simple tool that comes sharp, with good protectors and great quality. Easy to use and clean. Don't even stress about what you put in the salad -just throw some greens on a cutting board, load up the veggies, meat, cheese, chop chop. Mix it in a bowl with some dressing - saved yourself $20 from going out for lunch.

Sharp and works super well. Dishwasher safe and I liked it so much I bought another one. Cuts through anything easily.

The first photos show the box as it arrived at my home. As you can see it has been opened prior to shipping. The next two photos show the lack of proper sharpening of one of the salad chopper blades. It is quite coarse to the touch. In addition there is a divot in the edge of the blade. The last photo shows the cutting edge of the second blade which is quite smooth (and sharp) from having been properly sharpened. I am at a loss as to whether or not this item left the manufacturing plant in this state or whether this was damaged en route, or alternately is a returned item. Whatever the case, it should never have been shipped as is. I will be requesting a replacement.

The chopper is very large with a lot of space between the blades which I personally like. Makes for easy cleanup and prevents it from getting jammed up with food. I'm 6'3 with large hands the grip fits perfectly in my palm. The blade covers come in handy to prevent accidental injury when stored in a drawer.

I'm very happy about this purchase! My goal was to start eating more vegetables/salads, and I needed a way to expedite the process and make it as easy as possible. I like that I can just throw all the ingredients I need inside the bowl and chop them in a matter of seconds. Works great, and I have used it almost every day for about a month. The only thing I'm wondering is how to sharpen it when it gets dull. It has a great grip, easy to use and to clean. I would just be super careful with the blades, because they are pretty sharp. Great product to simplify your everyday routine.

I have a weak left arm and was able to cut lettuce with one hand/arm, chopped vegetables. Rhubarb was cut so easily and everything else, just simply rock knife back and forth. Knife guard it comes with also protects blade. Highly recommend.

The tool works well. It's not fancy. The blades are far enough apart that they can be cleaned relatively easily. That said, the chopper showed up with burred blades. It's hard to explain, but with blades like these, the two interior sides should be totally flat, and the two exterior sides beveled toward the interior sides. That's what makes two blades. But, when the sharp edge gets not-so-sharp, it bends over to the flat side, and that is how the burr is formed, and that impacts performance. Out of the box, I used my sharpening stones to restore the edge, but as a chopper, that was maybe a bit silly, as it developed a burr again fairly quickly. I don't know, for the price, it's maybe worth it. But it's not fantastic to hold, it's still not super-easy to clean, and if the blades don't hold, I'm not exactly seeing the long-term benefit. I'm thinking a single-bladed mezzaluna with a comfortable grip and good, hard blade might be the better way to go with these, even if it could cost more. It's okay to spend good money on a quality tool.
