I couldn't get this to stay open at first, but then realized it's because it was cold from sitting outside after being delivered. Once it warmed up, it stayed open. This is a great food cover for the microwave.

I bought this thermoplastic rubber splash guard cover, and I’m really impressed with how well it works. Works great! Love the collapsible feature for storing or adjusting for container size. Easy to use & keeps food from exploding all over the inside.

It's a good microwave splatter cover, nothing too technical. And it serves it's purpose. But some of the listed "selling points" are a bit out there as far as what we look for in a splatter cover. First, we gave it 4 out of 5 stars because the handle is very small and shallow. If you have tiny fingers, it's just fine .. but if you have normal fingers, man fingers, or long nails, you're going to have to figure out how else to hold it to pick it up. My husband, for example, has to use his pointer finger in the handle area and then his thumb on the side of the cover for leverage (as seen at the end of our video review). Big deal? No, we still like it. Just not worth 5 stars for us. As far as the other claims (and videos) of its usefulness .. COLLAPSIBLE TO SAVE SPACE IN THE DISHWASHER - Really? Shouldn't it be open to wash it properly? COLLAPSIBLE FOR STORAGE - Yeah, I can see that. But we just leave it in the microwave so it doesn't matter to us. CAN BE USED AS A FRUIT STRAINER - Eww!! I guess we leave ours in the microwave longer than we should. I know, we would wash it first but the emphasis on "fruit" strainer leads me to believe it's not strong enough to handle boiling water from pasta, for example, so we'd have to have a strainer for the pasta anyway. Why wouldn't we just use that one for our fruit too?? OTHER VIDEOS HAVE SHOWN IT CAN BE USED TO DISPLAY YOUR FRUIT ON THE TABLE AS A BOWL - What's with the fruit?? Why can't it just be a splatter cover for stopping grease from getting all over your microwave? Overall, worth the cost and obviously versatile for more people than just us!
