Nice Knife for Camp Chores
Finally found a decent priced OK4 to try out. Am impressed with the compact size, that feels comfortable in my size large hands. Blade was sharp out of the box and appears to be very sturdy. Tested the edge on blocks of black and honey locust. Which it performed well on both type woods. As some folks have pointed out, the sheath is adequate. But like Morakniv, Hultafors has focused it’s priorities on the knife itself. I do like how Hultafors added the nylon ferrule rod harness and belt loop. That makes this sheath a step above Mora’s sheath. Overall, a great knife at the price point.

I like the handle
Outstanding. I watched a Youtube video of budget beast knives and the Hultafors OK4 won, so I bought this and also the Mora companion heavy duty, which was also in the competition. I like the handle, love the blade, though it wasn't all that sharp from factory. I like this knife because it was $23.82 and it is a performer and it is strong and simple. It also came with a firesteel, which was a total surprise, as it said nothing about this in the description. If you look at the 2nd pic, you can see there is a nylon tube on the bottom of the sheath. That is where the firesteel slides in and stays (somewhat). This thing will throw sparks too. Very sparky! The sheath is simple and effective. It's also weird and not all that simple now that I think of it. It has a weird snap together cordura sleeve that affixes with a snap-in getup and I honestly don't get it. The Mora has a superior sheath - super simple and effective. This one is too complicated and I have no idea why. But it holds the knife real well. The Mora has a thicker blade, and is polished very nicely and was sharper out of the box. But this one has a deeper blade and seems more ready for business. This is a tool for me and not for display. If I were you, I would get both. The Mora was also $5 cheaper. Both are excellent and will probably never fail. BLADE ---4 1/2 stars HANDLE---5 stars SHEATH ---4 stars PRICE ---5 stars OVERALL ---5 stars easily

Halfway between Mora Bushcraft and Mora Robust
I have seen videos that compares this to a Mora Bushcraft but it’s really not quite as nice probably a little closer to a Mora Craftline Robust. Not as sharp out of box as Mora but that’s not a big deal, handle is a good fit for small to medium size hands. All in all a good quality knife I deducted a star because a Mora Robust is less expensive and I really can’t see why I should pay more for this unless it’s due to blade coating and sheath is maybe a tich better which I really don’t care about. Ok I will admit it’s worth $20.00

Much better than the Hultafors heavy duty knife
I already owned the Hultafors heavy duty knife (380020 GK) when I bought this knife. The heavy duty's handle even though textured, was as slick as hot oil on...well you get what I'm saying. It was also a little to big for my medium hands. The OK4 has a Santoprene grip over the polypropylene handle which gives it a great grip even wet. It also seems the handle is smaller and fits my hand better than the heavy duty. The blade made of Japanese SK-5, 3mm thick, and is one of my favorite carbon steels. It's the same steel used in the Cold Steel SRK and SRK-C which I have both. Its light, very tough, and hold a great edge. The blade spine on the OK4 is unfinished to use with a ferro rod. The sheath holds the knife securely, has a drain hole, and has a place for a ferro rod. It's comparable to a Mora Craftline Robust but with a wider blade and better sheath.

Great quality
Very good knife. I've used in Bushcraft a lot and it hold an edge. It's definitely worth every single penny.

Slightly better than most Moras
Many reviews say the Moras are better. With maybe the exception of the Gardberg, I disagree. The handle beats all the Moras. Grippy, better pommel and finger gaurds, and serms to fits the hand better. Moras have a half tang. The hultafors tang goes 3/4 to 7/8 into the handle. The blade is Japanese SK 5 steel which is equivalent to US 1080 high carbon steel. The only mild gripe ( for me it's not really a gripe) is it isn't quite as sharp out of the box. But I put a fine, ultra fine stones to it and strop. It is shaving sharp now. Hultifors makes great tools. I have an axe from them that's amazing. Also the sheath is better. Now that the price of this knife has come down, you need to get one.

Just OK knife
Pro: great blade and handle shape. Handle rubber material give proper grip (texturing not needed). Sheath is light weight and good retention. Con: handle texture cause hot spot all over hand. Blade show stamped out steel toward the tip portion and grind unevenly…will take hours to make the grind even and remove the stamp/unfinish blade spine.

SOLID knife.
This is a sturdy knife. It feels full tang in the hand and the blade doesn't flex much at all. User friendly ergonomics and the sheath well... I am not really in love with the sheath but it can be used and it seems like it will hold up well.

Heard and saw the reviews on this knife and took the plunge. Batoning: able to baton but only can be done to smaller logs Feathering : does a great job Filleting : Does the job but not the best cut Will recommend for the casual camper who needs a knife to get things done around the campsite . Not your FX-1 or ESEE . But it’s a heck of a workhorse

I’ve had the knife for 3 months now to replace one of a similar vein, a Morakniv companion. Hultafors’ option is superior in basically every way. The sheath is pretty standard plastic, but it’s separate from the belt loop, which is great for me due to knife laws where I live. Quick on/off. The knife itself is fantastic, I don’t know how they make them so good at the price point. The handle is comfortable, with a good texture to give you a secure grip. It really never feels like it’ll slip out your hand. The blade itself takes and holds an edge very well, it came sharp but only took 5 minutes on a 1000/6000 grit whetstone to be sharp enough to shave. It held that edge through a solid 4 days of use on a camping trip where I used it pretty much non stop all 4 days. The only flaw, and I use “flaw” VERY lightly, is it’s a touch dented on the spine from being hammered through wood. This isn’t really a flaw of the knife itself, had I used a bit of wood the way I’d usually do it would’ve been fine, but I had a framing hammer to hand and used that instead. The dents are minor and I could really fix them, I just don’t care to. A must buy at a price point that hides the sheer quality and robustness of the knife. For me, expensive blades are for chefs. For an every day fixed blade I want a number of things and this ticks every single box.

Someone at Hultafors had the bright idea to marry the GK blade with the HVK handle. I ordered it without actually holding it in my hand. When I received, I was disappointed to see that the handle was exactly like the HVK's. It has the ridged rubber overlay, which I despise. I find rubber leads to lots of hotspots and sore hands. It's also made for small/medium hands. The good, the blade is tough as nails. I like that it's coated, to protect against corrosion. The spine is squared off, so you can use it with a ferro rod. It also didn't have the secondary bevel that the GK does. Is it worth double the price of the GK? In my opinion, no, but it's a decent alternative to the much more expensive Mora Bushcraft Black. If I could do-over, I'd get the OK1. Same blade, much bigger handle with no rubber. If you already have a GK, sharpen away the double bevel & save your money.

Gracias
