Best Portable CD Player About
I ordered this as I fell over on the one we had in & I had to replace it. Now I was only using this as my larger CD system is one of those incredibly stupid it'll produce sound via Bluetooth but not to headphones via Bluetooth silly ideas & I was actually very very very impressed with this systems sound & the number of varying play modes that it boasts like: CD (MP3) Player, A Cassette Deck, Bluetooth Capability, FM Radio (old school) DAB+ & USB Playback, It sounds excellent for its size (I'm a qualified musician & I own some 800+ CD's (easily) so I have a fair idea of sound quality) the Treble is here so is the Middle & the massively important Bass is here & the Bass can be turned between three different levels from light to heavy. The whole system has a number of settings that aren't displayed on screen so typically like 'Rock' & 'Jazz' &‘Classical’ so on it's more 'Powerful' & 'Smooth' & so on, it has an Aux in socket & the very important headphone socket. The remote control works extremely well & you can program CD's for sure & the USB & Bluetooth I'm unsure about as I've only listened to CD's on it plus a Cassette & I've heard it's old school radio briefly. It's so easy to use, almost everything is marked one way or another on the machine (the buttons name or symbols), you'll need the instructions for setting up playlists, using DAB+ & the USB port if you're unfamiliar with these things like myself. There is one small issue with this I'm afraid to say & that is say that you're listening to something really Bass heavy like Reggae/DUB for example if you have the Bass on setting #2 (now there's just average bass then there's a bass button on the machine moving it from lets just say minimal/average(ish) to bass heavy, So #0: is minimal bass push the bass button once to #1 for decent it is there bass & press it again to #2 for heavy bass & another press takes it back to #0 for no bass boost) now let’s just say on setting #2 if the system volume is over 20 - 22 on the screen it jumps whilst playing tracks by the likes of UB40, Sting & The Police, McCartney/The Beatles with their deep & distinctive Bass lines to name a few & it's the same for any bass deep genre of music as it just can't take both the heavier bass & the higher volume due to it's size, BUT you can toggle back the Bass setting to #0 minimal bass effect then turn it up to #1 & toggle/play with both the volume & bass until you find a bass fine none tinny sound which you will do so it's not all bad but it's this wonderful machines only hiccup! (I've left an image of the buttons & screen as clearly as I can & the images on the selling page are slightly misleading as neither of my two systems have had blue around the speakers!) It's a pricey player but believe me, it's the Philips brand, it's solidly built, the carry handle's secure & built to last, it's multifunction & it's well worth it & it is a classic case of "You Get What You Pay For" (I don't believe that you'll find a better portable CD system, that's my own personal opinion).

do compare with other models, ideal for listening to cd,radio & cassette, if recording not required.
nice unit, pity it can’t record from cd/radio, very small power lead, well packed,ok for weight getting into instruction manual. gradually, looks easy to operate, a little bit pricey, remote should be easy to operate , should function well.

Philips AZB798T/12 CD sound machine, Portable CD player (DAB+ /FM digital tuner, Bluetooth, CD
This has the sound I am looking for. The player performs well in every way it says it does. I am very pleased with this player. However, I did not realise it was just a 'player' until I wanted to record something from the radio. It made me think that for such a huge piece of machinery they could have included recording mode. I mean it is HUGE. I wouldn't mind it being a recorder/player with a smaller body and separate speakers. If you want good sound, it is the player for you. I got sort of stuck with it, so I am keeping it as it has the sound I am looking for to play my cassettes. I can also play the same music on CD and USB. This monster will also remind me not to have gotten side-tracked by their small silver one which is a recorder/player. I also like the station set up, but I find it easier or even better to set up programs manually as automatic just select the first clear stations of 20, but you might want others it would not have space for. However, you can over write these if you don't mind the extra effort. I fully recommend it for sound (aka - DBB). You will be in dance hall mode playing your favourites on this brute.

Not brand new
Many of the reviews I read were very positive except one that said the cassette player didn't work. It would seem that the defective one was returned and then sold to me. I am not a happy bunny. It did not live up to its promise, alas.
