The Shimido Upgraded Retractable Automatic Door Closer exceeded my expectations. It's durable, well-made, exactly as described, simple to install for anyone, along with a money saver. My security storm door needed a new retracting device for automatic closure which priced at seventy bucks for my type of door, this was ridiculous and out of my budget. I'm a loyal fan of Amazon and tend to spend four plus hours daily browsing and shopping then to my surprise I came across the Shimido Upgraded Retractable Automatic Door Closer this was on my top five list of 2026 Amazon purchases this year. I love how easy the door automatically retracts not to fast without a loud slamming noise when my door closes. The longevity of this product has a positive outlook for my needs. This product is simple to install, easy to fit your needs and make your life simplier.

Excellent product. Automatically closes the back door so the flies stay out. Love how small it is, barely visible, yet so powerful. Highly recommend. Also the seller is easy to work with and stand behind their product! Great for summer and all year round!

This product was purchased to hold open window awnings. The awnings where 1/2 plywood in a 20x20 square. This is not the purpose of the item and it did not work. My suggestion is to only use the items as intended and you should be very pleased. These devices are very well built and I firmly believe they would work closing a screen door or barn door style door. The cabling is sturdy and the retraction mechanism would easily handle a hollow core door or screen door. I also believe they would be a great way to hold an interior door closed to prevent cats and small dogs from opening the door. The items where retuned by UPS 3 days after receipt. AS of 1/18/25; 3 weeks after returning I still have not seen the credit to my account. This maybe an issue with Amazon billing or Shimido shipping and receiving or accountings. Please see this as objective. The closures will work just fine for the advertised purpose. I might suggest getting a small coffee cup hook instead of the glue on hooks that are provide.

This fit the bill for my situation. I have a door that leads down stairs to the garage. Unfortunately I tend to leave it open and with a 14 month old that’s a no go. This closes it effectively. I did spray a little silicone lubricant in the latching mechanism of the door to get it to fully close. I will update down the road based on longevity of the system. Right now it’s 👍🏼

It works very well. The pull force is higher than I expected and it is good. The glue that came with the packaging is very bad. Don't trust it at all. I glued it to the door frame with another glue. The good part about it is that it has many options for hanging on the door. Very easy to install.

It works, but I wish it was slower. I used it on the door, and it helps keep it shut. However, when I open the door and let it do its job, it slams it shut. Also, I ordered “white,” but it’s definitely “light purple.”

My front door, if not closed, wants to automatically open by nature of where our foundation is. It's super annoying. I don't want to lock the door every time I leave to go outside. I grabbed these and they work perfectly for what I needed. It doesn't slam shut or anything, just pulls it back to where it should be. Super easy to use, though it does stick straight ot the wall so when it popped off like mine did aftre a couple of year, it took the paint with it.

I've got the plastic piece stuck on, then moved (I had it in the wrong place —the wall), then restuck on my sliding glass screen door. I added 4" wide black duct tape that I trimmed down to custom fit the the clear (hooks) piece onto the sliding glass screen door (to be fair, that screen door has never worked properly, but it's as close as I can get it; next step is replacement of the entire door frame and door/screen). Zero confidence that the screw-on piece would work, but I used the foam sticky to give me a little extra padding (clear the door frame) and screwed in two of the four screws nearest the door (the other two were too close for comfort to the electrical light assembly, so I left those alone). Honestly I think it would work better if I moved that screwed-on "assembly" further away from the sliding glass screen door, but it all works right now. I might give it another go (once the weather warms up since we had snow yesterday). If I don't like the little holes I punched in the wood near the door, DUCT TAPE that thing up too. Hey: it's working!

The indoor cat had learned to open the sliding screen door. This has enough pull/spring to it that he hasn't figured out how to get out. On one door I had to adjust where I put the hook on the door (had to move it to middle of top door rail instead of right near the spring box, to prevent rubbing on door jamb) but then it worked great. On another door I had to put a spacer block (scrap wood) behind the spring box (again to avoid rubbing on door jamb), but it's easy to rig it to fit if you're reasonably handy. I also like that it's very easy to unhook when I don't want the automatic closer attached. Very happy!
