This set is exactly as described. Worth the money. Happy that I found a mortar that accommodates a larger portion of ingredients. It is quite heavy and big, and it looks good on the counter. If you follow the instructions exactly on how to clean and season the mortar, you're good to go and won't have a problem with residue on the food. Just be patient and follow the instructions. I have a granite counter and was concerned about mashing on the counter, but this mortar is so thick and solid that it wasn't a problem (no need to bang the pestle so forcefully). It came with 2 non-slip pads, although due to the weight of the mortar, I don't think it will slide that easily. It is deep enough to keep the food in. This makes a good gift if you know someone who likes to cook with fresh herbs or other stuff. I plan mashing some plantains and form them into bowls the size of the inside of the mortar and put meat in the center, then air-fry them, and I must try for the first time, making guacamole. I already used it to crush garlic, cilantro, oregano, small sweet peppers and other ingredients to season my food. Buy this product, you won't regret it.

I was in a Orson Gygi yesterday and came upon a molcajete that was fairly small and very rough, and it was $24. I decided that before I bought it I was going to look on Amazon and see if I could find one for cheaper. I came across this one, and it was 1.5 cups, and I was like "more space for cheaper, absolutely yes." so I bought this one. It says unpolished granite, so I was expecting it to be rough. It is granite, so it's very heavy, but let me tell you that I am STUNNED by the beauty of this piece. It's polished black on the outside (except the flat part of the bottom), and the top, except for the bowl. This looks like it belongs in an art museum, and I'm so happy with it. The pestle is also polished and beautiful except for the part that does the grinding. Seems very sturdy and stable. It came with care instructions, including how to season it, and they threw in a free gift of a garlic peeler. I don't think there's better quality out there, and for the price this is ridiculously good value.

Works perfectly! Durability, heavy and solid! Love the pad included for the bottom so it doesn't scratch my counter tops and stays in place while using.

I would purchase this again and I love it. It is heavy duty and gets the job done. So easy to crush herbs now to make compound butter.

I'm still cleaning it and seasoning it but it came perfectly well intact. They gave me a free gift, a garlic peeler. I can tell the quality is amazing, definitely Granite from the temperature, weight, and how it looks. I got the 4 cup one and I can tell its big enough to grind a lot of different seasonings and foods, so it's definitely versatile. The stability is great. People complain about how long it takes to clean and seasoning it but that's just how it is, it's also supposed to have that texture on the inside. A great product and I recommend.

Very well-made! I love the weight of it, and it is high-quality! I was pretty pleasantly surprised! I am using it for non-food currently (using it to grind down some bird food pellets for my cockatiel), and it works like a charm for breaking them down! The non-slip sticker it comes with helps keep it stable as I work! I’m excited to transition this to kitchen use once I finish using it to work through the bird feed (as I bought the wrong pellet size 😓). I can already see it will be perfect for breaking down some rehydrated peppers for sauces!

Huge! Works really well for larger volumes. Careful doing the initial preparation of the stone - managed to file down the skin on my finger tips!

Its really heavy. Can't even use it properly. Only thing i liked is that is wide inside and the pestle is also long enough to use.
