It’s a little tricky to give you a definitive answer, it’s a case of ‘yes’ and ‘no’. Of course you can try that, however we do not recommend using a plant-based milk as every brand on the market has a different ratio of fat in it’s manufacture. This can cause the finished ice cream to become either too hard or too soft. It may also result in a crystallised texture to the ice cream, which is certainly not palatable. Sol-ice has been specifically designed for use with dairy semi-skimmed milk, as cows’ milk, whichever brand, has almost the same or equable standard throughout. Non-dairy beverages are water based and each manufacturer adds a different amount of vegetable fat.
