Lives up to its Rep!
My daughter has been a fan of these for years, and I'd made a note to hook up with one. I didn't know exactly what I was looking for and made a mistake or two in the process. Some of this type unit are pretty poorly designed and lack functionality. Once I made the BUFF connection, I've been very happy. They aren't as cheap as some others, but quality tells. This unit is a light wool that I think is well suited to biking from say 20 degrees F to 50-ish. It is quite warm for it's light weight. Of course bicycling adds its own heat, so you don't want something too thick or that blocks off some air circulation or moisture diffusion. It breaths and is comfortable with no irritation (at least to me) And as important is that it goes on smoothly and doesn't stretch out of shape like many do. Its edges are well done and don't show sign of wear or raveling. I'd certainly recommend this not only for biking, but for general wear.. I guess it's not very "in fashion" but I just push it down around my collar indoors and don't get too hot. Of course it comes off easily too, but I tend to lose things :( It's a good value given it's superior performance for me.

100% wool
Soft and warm, and all natural material against the skin. It’s thin, not bulky, and yet keeps my neck and chin warm and blocks the wind effectively. Also made in Spain. Machine wash possible (be sure to use laundry bag), but do not put in dryer!

So soft and warm!
I pretty much own a Buff from every category. From their merino line, I have all three weights. Since I live in the PNW, I use the "light" and "medium" much more than I do the "heavy". I have only needed the "heavy" when I am camping on the mountain during the winter in windy/stormy situations after the sun has gone down. Being merino, these are super warm for their weight, and will keep you warm even if they get wet. A major plus of merino is their anti-microbial properties, which is nice when on extended trips. Either way, Buff makes quality products I can have assurance recommending to anyone. 5/5

Light but warm
This is very lightweight but warm and long enough to wear many different ways. Very useful to have.

High quality!
So soft and warm. Had to buy another one. Keeps me nose/face/neck nice and warm in the winter and windy conditions.

Versatile replacement for a scarf and balaclava
I needed a scarf for snowshoeing, but find them bulky when I'm wearing multiple layers. I had Buffs recommended to me as an alternative. This was amazing! As a scarf I barely noticed it, and when I needed a balaclava I was able to switch it over by just flipping the back over my head. It was completely effortless. The merino is a little scratchy, but nothing I would consider unpleasant. It stayed warm during 5 hours of snowshoeing through a sleet-filled winter storm. The sections I had over my mouth would become damp or collect a bit of frost over time--but it did not affect the warmth of the rest of the buff, and I was able to easily fold over the damp sections so they weren't even noticeable. I love this, and would purchase from this brand again.

Love this
It can be worn lots of different ways. Single layer for cool days, doubled up for colder weather. On coldest days I wear one on head and one around neck, bottom one can be pulled up to cover face balaclava style, with just eyes exposed. Regular wool is itchy, but this merino is not . easily stuffs in coat pocket when you get where you are going

Very nice!
I've used other material gators/buffs before this one but I like the light weight of this one as well as the much smaller amount of material so when you take it off, it's more compact to store in a pocket. It's not as soft as polyester fleece ones but it's not itchy. It's nicely comfortable and would recommend for reasons stated.

(This is a cut and paste from my review of the lightweight version) ... You won't find a better neck warmer/multifunctional merino headwear. I've been weary merino everything for a long time, I've tried the same offering from 2 other (excellent) wool companies and this is the best IMO. It's not too tight, not too loose...it's just perfect. I have the light and the mid weight versions; I used the light 80% of the time as it is warm enough and actually usable 3 seasons of the year. Great for the minimalist packer. Check out the review on Pachacker.com or any travel channel on YouYube...
