Project Hail Mary Saved my Ears as well
This is only my second wireless headphones ever but these are actually sooo good. And honestly the whole reason I even bought them was because I saw Grace wearing these in the Project Hail Mary movie scenes 😠it was a sudden impulse purchase because of that, but somehow it ended up being one of the best purchases I’ve ever made lolll First of all the color and design are so clean and pretty in person. The comfort surprised me the most because I just got my first ear piercing and I was scared it would press on it or hurt, but it is super soft and gentle around my ears and fits my head really nicely. It doesn’t feel too tight or heavy either, so I can wear it for a long time without getting annoyed And the sound quality?? no doubt. Everything sounds super clear and full and I genuinely enjoy listening to music way more with these. The fit also feels secure when I’m walking around or moving, and I could definitely see myself using them for lighter exercise too. For the sound, comfort, fit, battery life, design, and overall quality, I honestly think it is really worth the money. My Project Hail Mary impulse actually worked out for once ðŸ˜ðŸŽ§

Amazing sound quality, solid in every other area
Bought these along with the Sony XM5 to compare to my existing Bose 700. Comfort: The Bose 700 I don't find very comfortable, namely the headband, being rather thin, it puts pressure on the top of my head after a couple hours. The Sony had this problem initially, but then I started loosening the headband as much as possible, and being a very light pair, I stopped having that particular issue. All in all I found the Sony much more comfortable than the 700. I could see some folks saying it's more comfortable than the Momentum 4s. However I disagree about that. For me the Momentum 4 are the most comfortable. It has very soft ear pads, much like the Sony. Granted the M4s are heavier, but the weight is distributed very well across the headband, better than the Sony's imo. All in all, it's a close call and the Sony's are really well done comfort wise. Super light and super cushy pads. Could see a reasonable person going in either direction for the win here. Sound quality: I think the XM5 are pretty close to the Bose 700 and could see folks going either way depending on your signature preferences. Personally think I like the Sony a bit better, just more lively than the more neutral Bose. Both are in the same league though. The M4s are way better sound quality wise plain and simple. They're not in the same league. Heck, they're not even playing in the same sport. Find myself listening to music way more often during the day simply because I enjoy it that much more. This is the reason I'm ultimately sticking with the M4s. And it's not a hard decision. Noise cancelation: Sony XM5 are simply the best. If you're buying headphones to block out the sound of your partner playing annoying tiktok vids, this is the one to get. M4s have pretty good noise canceling too, but the Sony's are way better here imo. Bose sits between the XM5 and the M4s, maybe just a little better than the M4s Mic sound quality: I'm work remotely with multiple meetings throughout the day so I've done extensive testing on all three models. In a nutshell if you don't have any special requirements, all of them do a great job. In quiet conditions I prefer the the M4 a little better than the others, my voice just has more body to it, but again, it's plenty clear using any of these models. In noisy conditions, the Sony XM5 are way better than the rest in isolating your voice and minimizing background noise. Simply incredible! The 700 and M4 handled the background noise a bit differently. My voice is clearer on the M4s in noisy conditions whereas the Bose cancel out more background noise at the cost of sacrificing clarity. When there's lots of noise, the Bose can reduce your voice to the point where it's super difficult to hear what you're saying. The M4s will allow more background noise through, but my voice remains super clear and louder than other sounds coming through. One feature I really like about the M4s, the one and only button they have (making it super easy to find) becomes a mute button during calls, zoom or google meetings. Really enjoy that feature as I could walk around the house and unmute myself if I need to talk. A voice tells you if it's muted or unmuted so you know where you're at. No more flushing the toilet while running out of the room hoping no-one on the meeting heard it. The background noise canceling of the XM5 during calls was so good, it made me really want to keep them. But ultimately good music sound quality is something I'd enjoy more often since I'm not often taking meetings in super noisy conditions. Also the M4s have the mute button I could use if I do find myself in that situation. Summery: If you want incredible noise cancelation while listening to music, taking calls or meetings, the Sony XM5 are the one to get. They are head and shoulders above the competition in this respect. If you wanna be wowed by how amazing your music sounds, renewing your love for music you didn't even know you had, the M4s are for you. These are the main areas where there is substantial difference. Sony and Seinheiser truly impressed me in their respective areas of expertise. Aside from those standout areas, these are all great headsets. Even the Bose 700 is a really solid headset. Unfortunately it wasn't able to differentiate itself when compared to these two titans of industry. Noise canceling is great, just can't touch the Sony's. Sound quality also great, just can't touch the M4s. Arguable the Bose are the slickest looking headset of the bunch though.

bluetooth stopped working after 9 months
I bought these headphones for daily use back in July of 24, and I really like them overall in the 6+ months I’ve used them :) The noise cancelling is great, sound quality is nice, the headphones hold about three to four days of near constant use which is stellar. The headphones hold a connection with my devices from across the house without disconnect which is really cool. They are comfortable and easy to put on and take off, and are fairly sturdy and can take a beating. Being someone with auditory sensory issues that makes loud noises unbearable for me, these have become an essential accessibility tool for my everyday life. Pretty much almost all day, almost all the time. I think these are quality headphones that hold up to the standard I expect from Sennheiser. I am a near-lifelong Sennheiser customer however (I used my old HD690’s for YEARS) so I will admit my biases. HOWEVER! It is not without issues. 1) Multi-device connection can be a bit problematic at times. Sometimes connections can drop seemingly at random. I’ve noticed this issue is particularly bad when you have two of these headphones connected to the same device (my roommate also has one). If you’re the only user, it’s not as big of an issue, but it’s still something to be aware of. Being a heavy user I’d say this happens about once per day. 2) Noise Cancelling can sometimes drop into full transparency at random. I don’t know why this does this. I have adaptive ANC and wind noise reduction turned off so it should not be changing at all unless I change it in the settings. Again, having auditory sensory issues, sudden loud noises can put me in a panic so this is a recipe for disaster for me. For everyone else, it’s an annoyance at best. Either way, if I set a setting, it should never change unless I change it. Speaking of… 3) ANC settings, sound control and connection management can only be done through the Smart Control phone app. There is no PC equivalent. I think this is extremely problematic for the longevity of these headphones. Although it’s something I accept because I have my phone on me a lot, I really hate that it has to be tied to an app, let alone a closed-source one that requires registration. I shouldn’t have to be forced to give my data for the sake of using my headphones to their fullest. It’s important to mention that this issue is not one of Sennheiser’s alone - pretty much all audio devices, especially wireless ones, will have some kind of app involved - but it’s still a pretty big issue nonetheless. Even with these issues, I still recommend these headphones, especially if you can get them on sale. These are really, really good. EDIT 4/7/2025 - These headphones bricked out of the blue this morning. Cannot connect via Bluetooth at all. Device immediately unpairs after pairing. Obviously outside of Amazon’s refund window so this is in Sennheiser’s court now. More than a little upset considering it helps me function on the day-to-day. But, supposedly issue #2 just got fixed in a recent firmware update, so there’s that. Sucks that it’s behind an app. The only reason I’d still recommend these headphones are if you use the audio cable it comes with. It works flawlessly on anything with an audio jack. But at that point, you could probably find a similar device for a quarter of the price. I’m so disappointed, but not surprised.

The best for me, and I tried a few
I wanted a pretty nice set of bluetooth over the ear noise canceling headphones. I specifically waited for Black Friday so I could get a nice discount. I bought four different sets of headphones that were in my budget to try them all. I kept these sennheiser momentum 4 over the other ones. I returned the other three which were the Sony 1000 XM5, the Bose QuietComfort ultra and the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e. All of these had a similar price when not on sale. I was quite surprised that I kept the Sennheiser. I really thought I'd be keeping the Bowers and Wilkins based on some of the reviews I've watched. For the type of music I listen to and the ways I will be using these headphones these were just the best. The app is solid and has lots of nice options and allows for the kind of customization I was looking for. The fit is perfect for me. Although so were the Bowers & Wilkins. But the sennheiser's battery life and sound profile along with the nice noise canceling, not the best noise canceling but really good, are what won it over for me. A real 60 hours of battery life is just incredible. That means the average person probably wouldn't have to charge these but once a month! They also came with a really nice case that's slim and easy to throw in a backpack or bag. I'm not sure why other people have issues with the touch controls, they work perfect for me. And the sound quality for the type of music I listen to which is mostly 80s and '90s metal is phenomenal for Bluetooth headphones. I have a few sets of really nice wired headphones and IEM's and these are quite surprising how good they are. A friend of mine has the bose and I've let him try these. He understands why I pick these over the bose now that he's heard them. The cherry on top for these headphones though is that they are phenomenal when you're making phone calls. It doesn't matter how loud or windy the environment is that you're making your call in, the person on the other end has no idea as it's as clear as it ever could be when using Bluetooth. I am really amazed how well they work in this regard. Bluetooth headphones are very subjective when trying to tell someone what is recommended. And if I wouldn't have tried these four I would not have believed how much of a difference there is in the sound profile, comfort, apps, and noise canceling. If you're going to spend some decent money on a set of headphones I really recommend buying a few sets or at least going to a store where you can try them first. I know that's hard to do as most places don't let you try before you buy, so that's why I bought all four and returned the three I did not choose. I've used them with my Hiby DAP, my pixel smartphone and my Lenovo tablet as well as my Sony TV. All of them work fantastic and the connection was quick and easy. I like the fact that I can set up different sound profiles in the app based on what I'm using the headphones for. I have one for podcasts which makes voices sound clear and precise. I have another for movies with the extra bass turned on for the impact of movie soundtrackcs and the punch for explosions and such. I also have another for my favorite kind of music and I have one for watching YouTube videos. I'm not trying to convince anyone to buy these, I'm just telling you my experience with the forehead phones I purchased and why I chose these. Everyone is different, so what's best for me is not necessarily what's best for you.

Just Okay
Coming from way older Senn HDs, I was looking for something with a little less clamping force, because I found some of their older models a little unbearable however, these don't have enough clamp for me even on the smallest head size to exercise without them coming loose. They have very good sound quality. I find the ear muffs to be sticky, so I am getting an aftermarket pair. The sennheiser pairing software is okay, you can set sound eq via custom setting, it has bass boost, I would say the mids are okay the lows could use a little more umph, the high cut through. I listen to a lot of rap, so they distort a little more than is probably good for listening to a lot of 808s. The carrying case is really nice. The seems to hold a charge for a reasonable amount of time. They are usb c which is good. Do I love them? No. Do I hate them? No. They are like almost great. I would like slightly more clamping force and thicker ear pads and a little more bass, but I also liked them enough not to return them. If you have a small head, you are probably going to want a pair that clamps a little more. I jog and they definitely bounce around for me, they are very comfortable when I'm at my desk.

Great sound, noise reduction, and cordless convenience
I use this while doing chores or on the exercycle so as not to disturb my wife. Erases the vacuum sound when cleaning. Pairing with a phone and smart TV is easy. Once paired, power on and off is automatic and flawless. The phone app is easy to use and absolutely essential. A negative: touch controls on the right earcup are clumsy and not user friendly, but they can be disabled in the app, which I recommend. Sennheiser could improve the touch controls by molding bumps into the right earcup at appropriate locations for tactile feedback. Touching the right earcup blindly yields unpredictable results.

Not true Sennheiser. Good audio and noise suppression. Bluetooth and Padding are low quality.
After over three years with these headphones, I feel like it is time to give an honest review. I have owned many headphones over the last five decades, made by several manufacturers. The three brands that have stood out as the best, and come with reasonable prices, giving me the most satisfaction have been the professional grade headphones made by BeyerDynamic (whom I consider the best overall), Sennheiser, and Sony. Note I said PROFESSIONAL Grade. None of these brands, nor any brand, of consumer grade headphones, will be great. That isn't what consumer grade headphones are made for. This is unequivocally true of any form of wireless headphones, especially Bluetooth, as the technology is simply impossible to make as high quality as wired. My experience with consumer grade headphones is limited, as I am a musician, and love to listen to Jazz, Classical, and Progressive Rock, which are all music types that are best experienced with true high-fidelity audio equipment, though you need not go insane with the ultra-premium audiophile junk that is marketed with baseless and often downright dishonest BS associated. Just solid copper wiring, well engineered amps with over-spec'd solid state components (or if you prefer the warmth of tubes like I do, go with tube circuitry). Note, I never wear headphones in public - I don't like looking like a martian or an idiot as some people seem to do. Rather, I listen to music at home, and as such, only listen using professional "audiophile" grade wired over the ear, open-back headphones in an otherwise silent room for the most pristine listening experience. So, with all that said, it should be noted that these are not TRUE Sennheiser headphones, but merely Sennheiser branded, under license, that are NOT MADE BY SENNHEISER, but rather made through a partnership with Sonova Holding AG, a Swiss hearing aid company that acquired Sennheiser's consumer audio division (including wireless headphones and soundbars) in 2021, with the two companies collaborating to continue the brand's consumer products, while the original Sennheiser remains focused on professional audio. Sennheiser's wired headphones, especially their high-end audiophile models (like the HD 600, HD 800 S, IE 600, IE 900) and professional gear, are still made by the original Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co. KG, a German company focused on Pro Audio and high-end wired consumer gear, while their general consumer wireless headphones are developed by Sonova AG under license, following Sonova's 2021 acquisition of Sennheiser's consumer division. Key Distinction: Sennheiser (the original company): Still German-owned, focuses on professional audio (microphones, conference tech) and high-end, audiophile wired headphones, manufactured in places like Ireland. Sennheiser-hearing.com (Sonova): The consumer side (wireless headphones, soundbars) is operated by Swiss hearing aid giant Sonova, using the Sennheiser brand name under license for their audio products. So, if you're looking at premium wired headphones from Sennheiser, look to the wired HD 600 series or IE series, as they're from the original Sennheiser; and if you are looking for Bluetooth headphones, be aware that the Sennheiser brand is only a name and does not reflect on the quality that Sennheiser has long been known for as they are from the Sonova-operated consumer headphone division. Likewise, be aware that bluetooth is a VERY problematic technology, with frequent problems with connecting devices, random disconnects and audio dropouts, glitches and noise. In short, bluetooth with NEVER give you professional grade audio. Note that whilst you CAN connect these headphones using an audio cable, you will not get true Sennheiser quality audio out of them, as they just are not true Sennheiser headphones and have lower quality drivers (what the the actual speakers are called), and the audio circuitry remains part of the circuit. Pros: Acceptable, arguably above average audio quality - though this is a VERY subjective matter, and is especially present when used as wired headphones, but DO NOT EXPECT Sennheiser pro grade audio out of these. You will NEVER get that out of Sennheiser or ANY Bluetooth headphones as Bluetooth and the digital circuitry is inherently trouble prone, even with a direct wired connection, as the electronics introduce both active (crosstalk interference when powered on) and passive (impedance issues due to inevitable circuit design). The noise suppression is okay, but definitely below par. Both Bose and Sony do significantly better in this regard. Build quality is another major issue with these headphones. The padding comes apart as it is merely glued, and whilst the ear pads are replaceable, the only available replacements appear to be third party. However, the headband pad also comes loose - I was able to repair mine using a a syringe loaded with glue, and a metal spudger to tuck the fabric back under the edge. Not optimal, but workable.

Disappointed with the reliability and quality
I ended up returning these headphones after owning them for less than a month. The right side completely stopped working while I was listening to music. The touch controls on the right ear cup still worked, but there was no audio coming from that side. I tried reconnecting, updating, and factory resetting the headphones, but nothing fixed the issue. I also had a few smaller issues while using them. The automatic noise canceling adjustments would make a beeping sound every time the headphones changed settings, which became annoying when it happened multiple times within a short period. The touch controls would also occasionally pick up my hair and accidentally pause music or change settings. My biggest disappointment was the overall feel of the headphones. For the price, I expected them to feel more premium and sturdy. They are lightweight and comfortable, but they did not feel as durable as I expected from headphones in this price range. The best way I can describe it is that they felt closer to a cheaper pair of wireless headphones rather than a premium product. The sound quality was excellent. The vocals and instruments sounded clear, and the noise canceling worked very well at blocking out most noise. However, for the price I was disappointed and would have a hard time recommending these headphones based on the reliability issues I experienced. The sound quality was impressive, but the durability did not meet my expectations for a pair of headphones in this price range.

Great value, sound and build quality, and durable
Not an audiophile, but sound quality is great to me. Not too bass-y, clear vocals and amazing soundstage. If not suitable, you can adjust EQ through the app. Case comes with airplane converter, 3.5mm jack, usb-a to usb-c cable - these 3 make flight experiences super convenient. Noise cancellation is somewhere between good and great. Microphone is not great but acceptable. My ears are slightly big, so they push against the cups just a little bit, gets slightly uncomfortable over hours of wear. Would still recommend.

Super casque !
