Compact and Fun Underwater Drone for Casual Exploration
I've always been fascinated by the underwater world, but as a casual snorkeler, I never thought I'd be able to explore it in such a cool way without extensive diving gear. Enter the Chasing Dory underwater drone! First off, I was impressed by how compact and portable this little drone is. It easily fits in one hand and comes with a convenient backpack for transport. At just 2.4 pounds, it's super lightweight too, which is great for travel. The buoy and tether setup is straightforward - I had it up and running in no time. The 1080p camera quality is solid for a drone of this size. While it may not rival professional underwater videography equipment, it's more than sufficient for casual use and capturing cool footage to share with friends and family. I appreciate the 16G TF card for storage and the GPS chip in the buoy. One of my favorite features is the depth keeping mode. It's great for getting stable shots at a specific depth without having to constantly adjust the controls. The 45-degree tilt range of the camera also allows for some creative angles! The Bluetooth remote and app make controlling the drone a breeze, even for a beginner like me. The real-time video feed is awesome - it's so cool to explore and see things from the drone's perspective! I haven't tried the 2 Player mode yet, but I love that it's an option for some underwater fun with a buddy. Battery life seems decent so far. I've been able to get around an hour of use on a single charge, which is plenty for my purposes. Your mileage may vary depending on conditions and how you're using it though. While the Chasing Dory is a blast, there are a couple of limitations to keep in mind. First, it's best suited for clear water conditions. Murky water will impact visibility and the overall experience. Second, the tether range is good for casual use but may be limiting for more advanced underwater exploration. Just something to be aware of! I'm really enjoying this little drone. It's not a professional tool by any means, but for the casual underwater enthusiast looking to explore and have some fun, it's a great option. The portability and ease of use are huge selling points for me. If you're looking for a compact, user-friendly way to dip your toes into underwater drone photography, the Chasing Dory is definitely worth considering!

The drone does a great job
This underwater drone is a real gem for anyone looking to explore the depths of the ocean or lake, and capture mesmerizing underwater moments. Equipped with 1080P full HD capabilities, this underwater drone delivers impressive clarity and detail in its footage, making it a perfect tool for photography enthusiasts. One of the standout features is the intuitive smartphone app that enables seamless remote control. Effortlessly navigate the drone through the depths, all while enjoying real-time observation on your smartphone screen. The experience of witnessing underwater wonders firsthand from the comfort of dry land is nothing short of captivating. The durability and safety features of this drone offer peace of mind during underwater adventures, its sturdy build ensures that it can withstand moderate water pressure. While the battery life is impressive overall, I really like the backpack, it makes everything easy to pack and carry around. Overall, the underwater drone is a powerful underwater photography companion that delivers on its promises. This drone opens up a world of possibilities for exploring and documenting the wonders. With exceptional video quality, easy app control, and reliable Bluetooth connectivity, it is a really valuable addition.

Good
Had a little difficulty getting started, as all the videos are 4-5 yrs old and don't go into detail. Finally figured out to turn on Airplane mode. I also noticed a tear in my backpack, they are replacing it. Over all it is a good product, they just need to be more helpful on how to get started.

Little skeptical at first, some practice required, but wonderful tool
I was a little skeptical but hopeful when I ordered the Chasing Dory. It took some time learning to operate it smoothly and how to orient its position, but by the third time, I was able to control it intuitively. In the 3 dives so far, I've used the Dory from the shoreline on Lake Arrowhead and in the Newport Beach ocean harbor -- from calm waters to moderate chop in a 4 knot northeast wind. It's generally easy to control from my phone even without the remote you can buy as an add on. The app is simple to use and the controls are very effective. From it you can easily calibrate Dory's internal sensors and take data on water temperature/depth. Control becomes more difficult as the wave conditions get rougher, but that's to be expected and would be true for any tethered rov (which they all are). The three vertical motors go a long way towards making this little submarine more stable than it otherwise would be. The WiFi signal stretches out 50 feet, so along with the tether, you have up to 100 feet of movement in the horizontal plane, and 50 feet of vertical travel. This has been more than enough to see all sort of things from the shore and would be awesome from a boat. That said, 50 feet is the vertical limit, so if you want to go deeper another choice would be best.

Disappointed.
Despite reading the reviews, it was a hit or miss on it so i gambled and lost. I wasn't able to use the controls even when everything was connected. Only time i could get the motors to work is when you use the unlock button and then everything turns on. I did a practice run in the bathtub and after multiple attempts to figure it out. Starting from the very beginning with connections and charging everything. Nothing worked. disappointed and now i will have to step it up higher for a better brand. Sad.

Impressive!
The build quality is awesome and it is really easy to set up and use. There is a sunk boat in our lake and we are using it to take pictures and videos of it to share with the community. We're super excited to take this to deeper depths! Highly Recommend!!

This thing is terrible. I use underwater ROV’s all the time in my job. This thing is cheap. Doesn’t respond to controls. And because it’s always got its thrusters on it stirs up sediment and batteries drain quickly.
