Used these to replace broken quill spring for my 30 year old MasterCraft 10" drill-press - works great. The chrome housing on my drill-press is about 41mm diameter so the 36mm x 6mm fitted nicely and was easy to install - but remember to fit with the wire band in place which automatically comes off during installation. The spring broke Friday evening, found the replacements on Amazon on Saturday and with same day delivery Sunday by Monday morning it was repaired. Highly recommended.

This quill return spring worked fine on my cheap Central Machinery drill press that must be 40 years old by now. I had to modify it just a little. The inside end of the spring was not quite bent at the right angle. It would not stay engaged in the slot of the shaft that was supposed to retain it. It's a little hard to do since it's made from spring steel and it does not like to be bent. Fortunately, I was able to do so without too much trouble. Here's hoping it lasts for another 40 years.

When I bought these I was worried about how I could install it without the spring uncoiling and going all over the place. It turned out to be very simple. The spring comes with a metal band around it to hold it taut. Remove the spring housing from your tool. Remove the old, broken spring from the housing then insert the new spring making sure the tab on the new spring slips into the slot in the housing. Cut the metal band that is holding it taut and it uncoils nicely in the housing. Place the housing back on the tool making sure the end piece of the spring goes in the split bolt. Turn the housing until it had the tension you want then put the retaining nuts in the split bolt and you are done! I hope I never need to replace the spring again but if I need to purchase more I would definitely buy these again.

Used this to fix a cheap Ryobi drill press that's been broken for a decade at work. Works as described. No issues so far after a few months.
