Hikari® Algae Wafers™ Sinking Wafers for Bottom-Feeding Tropical Fish, 8.8 oz (250g)

Good ingredients! My bottom eaters and the mystery snails go nuts over these wafers. There is no orders or waste with wafers and the size is good.

The bottom feeders love these algae wafers. We only put one a day in the tank so the water doesn't get cloudy because it takes them awhile to eat just one wafer. We installed an automatic battery operated feeder that drops food flakes we bought through Amazon in the water so the wafer is an extra treat for them. They love these wafers. Before buying these wafers, we watched a couple of videos on You Tube showing that other fish prized the wafer as well, not just the bottom feeders. It was fun to watch how they would swim up to the wafer and try it and swim away and keep returning for another bite. One fish wouldn't let go of it no matter what, even when the other fish bumped into him. Our further research on google showed this to be made of spirulina which is very healthy apparently and there are even spirulina supplements for people. We read alot of Amazon reviews on different brands of algae wafers and opted for this one as it seemed to have more pure ingredients and less fillers and was the original formula, copied by others. The wafer sinks to the bottom right away, unlike the last brand we used which had to be saturated enough to finally sink and that took awhile. We soaked it in a cup of water awhile to get it saturated enough to sink or tried to pitch it down into the tank water in such a way in hopes it would sink and that did work sometimes, but as long as it was floating around on top of the water, the fish would not eat it. It only takes a couple of minutes for them to find this one because it sinks right away. Our bottom feeders had 6 babies recently and when the babies find it, sometimes they all pile up on the wafer at one time, like it was the best thing ever or they peck and go and return. One swims back and forth in front of the tank we think in anticipation of getting another wafer when we come to the tank? We are very happy with our purchase and it is a good size bag, so it should last awhile. Glad we found this.

Great food. Smells just a pet store. Definitely reminds me of other Hikari products too. I’ll he looking for better larger supply. I have two tanks and this’ll last me maybe 60 to 90 days depending on variety of other food. I would say this is A-tier food for my setup.

My bottom feeders go crazy for these. They sink right to the bottom and don't make the water messy. The bag is a good size and lasts a while. Very happy with this brand!

Love that there's actually fish and seaweed in these wafers. My plecos and catfish absolutely devour these!

My Plecostomus and large bottom dwellers like these... I've got one Pleco that will grab one or more of these with his sucker and roll or drag it into his under rock domain to eat in peace. They do have to be in the water for a few minutes to soften enough for the larger catfish to eat. None of my smaller fish like Algae eaters or Otocinclus Catfish show any interest in these. Just the Plecos. Snails do seem to love them too. Be careful how much you drop in as they will foul the bottom of your tank if uneaten for long. I remove uneaten ones within 6 hours as the fish won't touch them if they've set for very long. The resealable bags are a bit of a pain to open or reseal. I don't like the seals have no place to grip onto them to open. I've found it easier to just cut the bag seal off entirely and use a rubber band to keep them closed/sealed.

Guppy breeding made easy!! The fish swarm these everytime! Might look into the smaller size wafers from Hikari as these really swell up underwater and could foul the water if there aren't enough fish in the tank to consume the entire wafer in time. It takes 100 juvenile guppies exactly 30 minutes to eat one wafer so if you have less fish in your tank I highly recommend starting with a partial wafer! These are a favorite of: Neocaridina Shrimp, Mystery snails, Guppies, and Mbuna cichlids in my tanks!

My babies (Plecos, shrimps etc.) love these!!! Great quality, they don’t dissolve fast so it allows my bottom feeders plenty of time to eat.

I got these for my bottom feeders but all the other fish seam to like these and most don’t last long enough for the bottom feeders to even find 🤣 but that’s still ok. Looks like good quality ingredients, no discolouration in the water and they sink pretty fast. Good product.

Nachdem ich woanders eine kleinere Packung dieser Tabs gekauft hatte, wollte ich mir einen größeren Vorrat zulegen. Solange man keine Welse in Massen züchtet, kommt man mit dieser Tüte lange hin. Sie riechen angenehm und sämtliche Aquarienbewohner stürzen sich darauf, selbst die, für die es nicht gedacht ist. Es befindet sich kein unnötiger Schnickschnack in den Zutaten. Aufgrund der hohen Qualität habe ich auch am Preis nichts zu meckern. Klare Empfehlung für alle Welsbesitzer!
