Has anyone compared this to the Chirp wheel?

This is sturdier than the Chirp wheel. I'm built like a linebacker and have not had any issues with the structural integrity of the product.

Can someone explain the "spine gap"?

Does this actually crack your back or just massage it?

This really works by mulipate the vertebrae back. Yes this popping back feels great.

Does anyone feel pain when using it? I just received it today, it feels like I was hit in the back after using it, it's painful.

This sounds like: 1) you probably don't enjoy deep tissue massages, which this roller tends to mimick, imo IF used on floor. You might want to try (or pre-condition yourself/ease into it) by using it leaning against the wall instead. And 2) that you probably don't tend to go to a chiropractor already (if your using this on the floor, it does tend to have a spinal adjustment process with it, not ONLY a massaging effect) due to the hard core underneath the massaging 'little feet' imo And 3) that you might benefit from a softer, more foam core roller, if rolling by leaning against the wall still produces the same painful ending. ANY rolling system is supposed to ultimately alleviate pain and/or stiffness, not add it.
