LifesStraw's bag system (about $55) is a purifier though. **Q: What type of plastic is the bottle made of?** A: The thick plastic of the bottle itself is soft, allowing one to squeeze the bottle in order to take a drink. The cap is made of harder plastic. **Q: how many gallons of water total can one micro filter element in this unit filter, Are replacement micro filters available?** A: I did not know the answer to either question, so I referred to Google. Depending on the source, the replaceable filter is good for 264-500 gallons.
