Q: does this have instructions in english?

Yes it does! All of the Ticket to Ride Map Collection installments come with an instruction booklet printed in English, French, Spanish, German, and a couple others. It saves them time and money, I imagine, to just release a game that can sell in any of the countries that love them, than to have to make separate versions for every location.

Q: Confusing. Description says its a stand alone game. But "what's in box" says nothing about trains. So is it stand alone or add on?

It is an expansion. You need 35 trains, scoring markers, and a deck of train cards from either the USA or Europe version of the base game. This expansion adds 20 country cards as well as new destination tickets. Cheers, --Matthew

Quite an interesting map as one of the map collections from Days of Wonder TTR series.Unfortunately, it is only one side, so no 2 maps for the price of one game here.The unique game function for this map is quite good.Interesting and decent addition to the map collection series.
