I bought two Hudson Durable Goods - Professional Grade Chef Aprons over the last two years (I lost one in a wildfire that took our cabin) and I will not wear any other apron for grilling, smoking, or cooking. I have even used it in the garage when I needed to protect my clothing. Unfortunately, our family cabin of 54 years was lost in an arson-caused wildfire on Flathead Lake, MT in 2021. To rebuild and restart our legacy, I bought a portable sawmill to saw the trees from the fire and incorporate the wood into our rebuild of the cabin, sheds, etc. However, the outside charred bark gets on everything including my clothes as I am moving logs. So, to stay a little cleaner, save the wear and tear on my clothes, and based on my great experience with the Hudson Durable Goods - Professional Grade Chef Apron, I purchased the Hudson Durable Goods - Deluxe Edition - Waxed Canvas Tool Apron. Both aprons feature over-the-shoulder straps which move the weight from your neck to your shoulders. The waxed apron has shoulder pads too, but not sure how much they help as the load on the apron hasn’t been too much…yet. It's also easy to connect the straps in the back with a buckle rather than having to try and tie a knot behind your back. Although both are made of heavy canvas fabric the waxed canvas is ideal for sawing lumber and it will also be great when we get to the woodworking stage. The fabric is stiff because of its thickness and waxed properties, but it does not hinder your movement or its functionality. The other features I like are the pencil/pen and phone chest pockets. The four lower pockets are wide and deep and carry a lot including a nicely fitting speed/rafter/framing square. The two hammer loops will be handy in the future, but I have not found a use for them while sawing wood. Overall, this is a great working apron for the shop, woodworking, and sawing timber. Furthermore, I cannot find any drawbacks or the need for additional features that would prevent me from buying again. You will not regret buying this apron!

Great apron. I was initially worried about the fit given it's sizing claims it fits M-XXL, but it turns out there was nothing to worry about there. The apron is a good length, and comfortable to wear, even with the 'out of the box' stiffness in the wax. With time and use, I imagine it'll be even better. I use this mostly in the garage/shop while I'm tinkering with various woodworking projects. The pockets are plenty big enough for convenient access to squares, small levels, etc.., and the cell pocket keeps the phone close and out of harms way. I tend to stream music from the phone to a bluetooth stereo, so it's nice to be able to just reach in the pocket to change playlists or send off a quick text when needed. About the only things I'd change would be the little leather patch that the straps cross through on the back, and perhaps having the lower 'skirt' of the apron below the pockets split to make it easier to bend or kneel. The leather piece that the straps pass through is far too soft for the purpose (in my opinion) often bunching up and making it harder to adjust than something stiffer might. Having a split skirt in front would still offer much the same protection, but allow for greater freedom of movement. Neither is enough to warrant removing a star, as both are more my personal preference rather than any defect or shortcoming in the apron. I'm actually considering getting a second one to use with my BBQ grill. The pockets are big enough to hold my grill gloves, which resemble welding gloves, and with a little modification to some of the grill tools, I can probably use the hammer loops to keep them handy. Definitely worth considering if you're in the market for a new shop apron.

I work what we call the "wet rack" in produce. I wash, trim, wrap produce to put on the rack that rains on you all. So I need a durable and very water resistant apron, that breathes a bit. This apron hits all of those marks. This is my second or third apron from Hudson. I trash the aprons work supplies in a couple of days. I can get almost a year out of these canvas aprons, so I'm happy. I could use another pocket on the chest for a fat sharpie. The kangaroo pocket is a good feature and I'm sure that I'll learn to stop putting my gloves in there, instead of the lower pockets. lol Great apron, I'm going to get one for my boss because she likes it as well. I bought one for my supervisor and she loves these aprons as well. After using this variation for a couple of weeks I have a suggestion, add a leather "tab that would snap onto one or both outer edges of the apron to attach a holster. I use a produce knife at work and that would make this apron capable of carrying all of my tools. I also do a lot of DIY home projects and woodworking and this would be a handy feature for a tape measure or a utility blade in a holster. Love the quality.

Update: After 2 years, still superb. The lower pockets do pick up a bit of sawdust, etc, Haven't even had to re wax it yet. Get the Deluxe, the other reviews show it as well, the padded straps are a must over time if you start loading it up with tools etc. This apron was a first for me, and I really liked the way a few things happened. One is showed up quickly, two, it was very quick and easy to fit and 3 fits just great. I got the padded shoulder strap one and man it has done a good job already. Black, so it shows everything, but keeps the sanding on it instead of my shirt and into the front of my pants etc. Really well made. good feel to it. Pockets in the right places, and fits the pencil/cell phone just fine as well. I use a pretty tough case on my S8+ so its a fat phone. Fit just fine, not worried about it taking a dive when I bend over to get something etc.

It's as manly as a manly apron can be, lol. It's incredibly stiff and well made. Easily a 10+ year apron looked after correctly. I have a 48" chest and was worried it may look small on me but it looks and feels great. The shoulder straps are comfy and it's easy to put on. I did run mine through the tumble drier just to loosen up the fabric a little. But it's well loved now and I would definitely recommend it

Use these for my work, much more comfortable than wearing coverals and covers the parts of my uniform that would get dirty. They are well constructed with durable material. Pockets are useful and the shoulder cushions make it more comfortable, I have a version without those and they do really make a difference. The back clip is definitely the way to go especially if you are taking it on and off frequently.
