Air Assist + 5w Comgrow Z1 ~ Check Focus distance
I already has the Z1 5w and bought the Air Assist to add on. Price is good. Install is easy and works with no major issues with the caveat that your acrylic focus plate used to measure distance no longer works once this kit is installed. The guard that comes on the stock 5w laser is about 3mm taller than the new nozzle. If trying to use the 2mm acrylic that comes with the Z1 the focus will be off. I printed a new paddle spacer tool at about 5mm that works, so it is working but may play with that distance a bit to dial it in. Other than that unit is sturdy and well made. The only thing improvements that could be made are a built in pressure gauge or a more precise power dial with clicks instead of smooth turning. Hard to know how much air I am pumping. Overall a very good value and nice piece of kit. Would buy again if upgrading a laser w/o air.

Itโs definitely important to have for your laser engraver..
Work as it should, wish Iโd have known about this like 100 plus 12X12 3mm balsam boardsโฆ Lesson learned.

Makes For Much Cleaner Cuts - Highly Recommended
This Air Assist is very good quality and was reasonably easy to install on my xTool D1 10w Laser Engraver. Pros: 1) Allows for much cleaner cuts and less scorching on both sides of bass wood cuts. See picture, top piece is with air assist and the bottom piece is without 2) Motor is reasonably quite when running Cons: 1) Instructions could have been a little more detailed, but easy enough once you start the assembly 2) The metal shield replaced the clear plastic shield, which makes it difficult to see the targeting laser Overall, this is a must have to produce quality results. I also recommend getting a Honeycomb base plate! Highly Recommended CFH

Might require some fiddling depending on when you purchased you laser.
I bought the comgrow Z1 10w rather early in it's life cycle, so I assume this is the cause of my only issue. The adjustability is nice, and it works quite well. Just a simple turned dial to the desired airflow, once it's all hooked up. The included tiny zip ties allow for tubes to be routed with cabling, and you don't have to open up the wiring harness if you don't want. To my only issue: my laser module was not either of the ones that were supposed to be included in the Z1. The air assist comes with attachments to allow several models to work with it. The 10w should have a protruding aluminum bit I attach the assist nozzle to. I ended up swapping the 5w nozzle that is secured diagonally with the 10w that's tapped for tiny screws, and had to tap my own m(2 or 3,cant remember) holes in the aluminum housing. There was already a tiny gap almost exactly where I needed it, since there's a heat sink and housing pressed together. It just needed widened for the screw, and tapped for threads. Given the cost and advertised compatibility, as well as reviewers saying it works well with THEIR Z1, I was expecting a bit more ease of installation, but I assume I am an outlier. Take my hassle with a pinch of salt, as you will likely have an easier time if your machine is newer. Will update with photos for clarity (or if comgrow contacts me to explain why I'm dumb) when I can get to the shop.

Great for Xtool pro 40w.
Bought it for Xtool pro 40w. All I had to do was attach the hose. Didn't need to change the supplied nozzle. The variable air flow was a big plus! And it quite enough that I forget is on unless its full blast the I can hear it and even then no louder the a large fishtank air supply! A+. I also can use it on my Atomstack A5 pro with one of the supplied nozzles.. So all I have to do is swap the hose from one machine to the other when needed. The rubber padded feel really reduces vibration noise and avoids it from dancing across the table I have it on. I really recommend it. As far as longevity... time will tell. But by the looks of it; its built sturdy so Im expecting a good run for the money. ๐

With latest Comgrow Z1 10W, This is easy!
Comgrow has made several important upgrades that involve the Air Assist. The newer Z1, I'm not sure how they designate it, (I bought mine in July 2023) has a single Power and PWM connector on the top PBC above of the laser module (vs two connectors on the previous model). The newer Laser head integrates and includes a black "Blow Head" nozzle with a right angle air connection already included. I see Comgrow has removed the blue 38mm nozzle from the Air Assist kit, as it is no longer necessary for (and will not fit) the new Z1 units. No issues, as Comgrow provides everything you'll need. I've noted the larger air Nozzle aperture on the new black Blow Head vs the smaller aperture on the Blue Nozzle included in the kit (not using). Wondering why the change and if it matters. Assuming it's a newer improvement.

Cost and time saving
With a bit of modifications I got this installed on my Jtech 14w PRO Diode Laser. This is working great and cut my time in half cutting through 1/8 3mm birch ply. also pretty much eliminated the soot around the burn. Very happy!

Nice unit very low noise use it all the time The only thing I am not sure of it came with different adapters for the air assist nozzle This is made by comgrow. So is my laser there was already a place to screw it in. So I am using that one so far so good
