Best for Aging Cats
As my cats are getting older, 12+ years, I need a quality cat food that they like, that isn't too loose or sticky but most importantly, meets their dietary needs for their ages. This product is designed for that and isn't too expensive with the unnecessary hype about being recommended by a vet or having magical ingredients. Cats experiencing renal issues should have less of certain vitamins and miners and this product fits the bill. It also contains quality animal ingredients and not fillers. Yes, younger cats can eat this as I have a 6 year old who loves it so I stand by this product.

My cats and I like it
My cats demand a lot of variety when it comes to canned foods, and this is a product that has earned its way into the rotation. I free-feed Blue Buffalo kibble to my cats (Ella, age 11, and Bubba, age 2), so they tend to be pretty picky about canned food. They look forward to their canned food each morning, but like to have a variety. Generally, I will split a larger (5 oz) can or offer them each a small (2.5 or 3 oz) can each morning. If they eat that, I'll give them another one in the late afternoon or early evening. Usually, Bubba is the only one who needs two offerings of canned food since he's three times the size of Ella. Wet food is important for cats because, in the wild, a cat would get most of its liquid requirements through its food rather than from drinking water, and domestic cats prefer fulfilling their liquid requirements that way as well. Older cats, in particular, often don't drink enough water to meet the needs of their kidneys. In cat food (kibble or canned), I look for meat, poultry, or fish as the number one ingredient and for it to be free of corn, soy, wheat, gluten, or unnamed byproducts. In canned food, particularly the gravy recipes, I'm okay with broth as the number one ingredient as long as it's followed by protein, given the importance of water in their diet. Because of my rotation of canned foods, I often look for variety packs, and this Wellness Core Digestive Health product includes two different recipes: Salmon Pate Recipe and Whitefish Pate Recipe. Bubba has thrown up a couple of times in the past few weeks, so I have ordered a few digestive health or sensitive stomach recipes. It's still too early to tell whether these will prove useful in that respect, and I may never know because if I offer them the same canned food three days in a row, they'll refuse to eat it. Keeping in mind that 80% or more of what is found in cat food is represented in the first four ingredients, let's look at the first six ingredients in this product: Wellness Core Salmon Pate Recipe: Salmon, Salmon Broth, Chicken, Chicken Liver, Pumpkin, and Whitefish. Wellness Core Whitefish Pate Recipe: Whitefish, Chicken, Salmon Broth, Chicken Liver, Salmon, and Pumpkin. Additionally, the rest of the ingredients don't include anything worrisome, so I am very pleased with the ingredient list. It has no added grains, wheat, corn, soy, or artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. This isn't the first time that I have bought this product, so I know that my cats like it. I usually buy the larger 5 oz cans since if I were to feed each of my cats something different, they'd fight over it, no matter who got what. However, since Bubba is usually the only one who wants a second feeding of canned food in the afternoon, the smaller cans are convenient, too. It is worth noting that while some manufacturers have cut back on the volume of their small cans from 3 ounces to 2.5 ounces, these continue to be a full 3 ounces. When ordering or comparing prices, sometimes it's easy to overlook the half-ounce reduction in some products. In summary, I recommend this product. While I will buy a whole lot of other ones as well, these will remain in my rotation.

Good quality
My cats loves the taste. He’s on a special diet due to hyperthyroidism and needs high protein and no phosphorus. After a month so far good. He’s maintaining his weight.

Be ready for broken cans
This is a great product, however, they are shipped in flimsy packaging that results in numerous burst or broken cans, the cardboard box they come in is basically useless because it gets banged around all the time. Great product, stupidest shipping ever.

Cats stared at me like "what is this."
I bought the Wellness CORE Digestive Health wet canned food for my cats because they have sensitive stomachs. Unfortunately, both of my cats barely touched it and didn’t finish their food, which is very unlike them. I didn’t want to waste it, so I gave the leftovers to a street cat that often comes by my house. This cat usually finishes any canned food we give her, but she also didn’t finish this one. That really surprised me and made me think the issue was the taste rather than just my cats being picky. I’m sure the formula may be gentle for digestion, but in our experience, it wasn’t very appealing. I wish it had better palatability, especially since cats need to actually eat it for the digestive benefits to matter. They did a lot better with the wellness complete. Maybe I'll try the wellness core original instead of digestive health formula next time and see if they like that better.
